The only possible reason why a 1st of September airdate would make more sense, has nothing to do with what any other channel is doing. In the UK Saturday the 25th of August would fall in a bank holiday weekend. Airing it one week later means it no longer airs during a bank holiday weekend.

Why would it be better for it to not premiere on a bank holiday weekend?

Good question. Especially since Let's Kill Hitler aired during the bank holiday weekend last year.

Did it? I watched it, but can't remember if that weekend was a bank holiday.

Normally in the August Bank Holiday people go away or are doing something and watching the tele ain't a priority. Not that it matters with iplayer or Sky Plus for example, but the BBC would want to maximise viewers and airing it then won't.

Let's Kill Hitler aired August 27th, which according to my research (a Google search and a Wikipedia article) would have been the bank holiday weekend last year.

I just realized one thing, River might be the one who killed all the Daleks. That's why the Dalek in "The Big Bang" was so afraid of her and begged for mercy.

I hope there is still going to be some overall theme running through the season this year, even if its a little less dense. Its one of the big things I enjoyed about the last couple of seasons.
