Phase II "Going Boldly" (new vignette)

There's a new clip on Youtube featuring cast changes.

I never expected to see those effects shots; nicely done. :techman:

Yes, we released our latest video vignette today: "Going Boldly"--written by Dave Galanter and Directed by Mark Burchett.

As always, feedback is welcome and encouraged.

Nicely done...and a great surprise seeing the new nacelle design in action. Awesome!

Welcome as ever. :)

I wasn't sure about Brian Gross from the rough clip posted a while back, but I thought he was really good here. I also thought this was a really nice realisation of the Phase II design.

The name checks were a really nice touch, and while I never met Tony, I thought it was really touching he was mentioned so prominently.

I got a particular kick out of one of the other characters name-checked, thanks for that. :)

I'm biased, and probably too close to Phase II for obvious reasons, but I enjoyed this an awful lot. Great script, nicely acted, brilliant effects. But like I said, biased. :)

I was blown away by the acting and visual effects... looking at it from a passionate Star Trek fan, but looking at it as an extra and Phase 2 crew-member... I was brought to tears not only for the amazing effects and performances... but because of being there at the shoot while we shot this vignette. It was a great tribute to the Phase 2 family and our continuing mission to "Go Boldly...."

Who played the older admiral, the one who spoke at the service and told Kirk to "get out before I change my mind"? He looks very familiar. Great stuff BTW. Nice name check for Capt. Archer:)

Awesome, folks! Truly the Trek spirit.

By the way, is the long-haired guy supposed to be Dawson Walking Bear from TAS?

As I posted on FaceBook, I really enjoyed this. I thought the scene was very well done. It seemed so fitting to transition to the Phase II Enterprise contemporaneously with the transition to Mr. Gross as Kirk. I also have to say that I like the great majority of what might be considered design "compromises" as compared with the original Phase II Big-E design. It's a nice "stepping stone" design, if you will. I especially like that you retained much of the TOS nacelle cap effect. I was surprised at first not to see the dual turbo lift bumps on the bridge dome but, considering this would have necessarily implied a major redesign of the classic bridge set - which, by the way, I'm sure many of us immensely enjoy seeing in each episode - this was quite a ... logical ... choice. :vulcan:

I'm very much going to miss Mr. Cawley's portrayal of James T. Kirk, but am also looking forward to seeing Mr. Gross' take on the role.

I'm very much looking forward to the next episodes, though I cannot say patiently. Thanks, as always, folks - for letting us play in your sandbox. :bolian:

Maybe I need to be brought up to speed here on what Phase II means... why the TMP nacelle design on the TOS ship? Didn't the new design make its debut in TMP?
