That'd be the one that they were doing a second round of reshoots for only a couple of weeks ago, months after KG & AD had thought they'd left the show.

(And it's a Chibnall script too!)

Yeah, but that was for weather problems with location footage- there must be *something* usable from a studio session...

It's just as possible that there were reshoots on episode four because the footage was unusable, not because the script wasn't up to par and needed to be rewritten or reworked.

Just watched TEoT again. They should have an episode where the Doctor runs into Wilf and let's him know he's alright.

^ I was just thinking that the other day! After all, as far as poor Wilf knows, the Doctor sees them at Donna's wedding and then goes off and dies somewhere. I guess the "new man" after the regeneration wasn't too fussed about his former self's friends--but then again, the Doctor tends to look forward, not back.

Well, the whole point of that final sequence for Tennant was to say goodbye to everyone before he died. A farewell tour, if you will (interestingly, just like Matt Smith was doing at the end of Season 6). He was preparing to move on and leave that part of his life behind. Re-visiting past companions (except maybe Jack) would kind of defeat the purpose of the whole thing.

The 11th Doctor running into Wilf could be funny. Even though the Doctor explained the concept of regeneration to him, I think any encounter with the 11th Doctor is still highly confusing!

Yeah, like a quick throwaway scene, like the Doctor is doing something and hears a noise behind him (4 knocks perhaps?), turns around, sees Wilf and hightails it out of there.
