DS9 relaunch

garoo1980

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I know this has been posted before but I can't find it. Does anyone have the list handy? I just finished DS9!

In chronological order (my preference). Someone else can probably give you the publishing order if you prefer. The bold stories are the must reads, the others are secondary material.

  • The Left Hand of Destiny, Book One
  • The Left Hand of Destiny, Book Two
  • The Lives of Dax
  • N-Vector
  • A Stitch in Time
  • Avatar, Book One
  • Avatar, Book Two
  • SCE: Cold Fusion
  • Section 31: Abyss
  • Gateways, Book 4: Demons of Air and Darkness
  • Gateways: Horn and Ivory (from Gateways: What Lay Beyond)
  • Divided We Fall
  • Mission: Gamma, Book 1- Twilight
  • Mission: Gamma, Book 2- This Gray Spirit
  • Mission: Gamma, Book 3- Cathedral
  • Mission: Gamma, Book 4- Lesser Evil
  • Rising Son
  • Unity
  • Trill: Unjoined

  • Bajor: Fragments and Omens
  • Andor: Paradigm
  • Ferenginar: Satisfaction is Not Gauranteed
  • SCE: Lost Time
  • Cardassia: The Lotus Flower
  • The Dominion: Olympus Descending
  • Warpath
  • Fearful Symmetry
  • The Soul Key
  • The Never-Ending Sacrifice
  • Resevior Ferengi (from Seven Deadly Sins)
Then there are the Mirror Universe books, which tie in a little bit, if you want to read those as well...
  • Glass Empires
  • The Sorrows of Empire (expanded version of a story from Glass Empires)
  • Obsidian Alliances
  • Shards and Shadows
  • Rise Like Lions
And if you want to follow Worf's story after The Left Hand of Destiny until he rejoins TNG in Star Trek: Nemesis...
  • TNG: Diplomatic Implausibility
  • TNG: Gateways: Doors into Chaos
  • TNG: Gateways: The Other Side (from Gateways: What Lay Beyond)
  • The Brave and the Bold
  • The IKS Gorkon series
  • TNG: Genesis Force
  • TNG: A Time to Kill/A Time to Heal duology
  • TNG: A Time for War, A Time for Peace
From The Soul Key the series jumps ahead 4 years to post STAR TREK: DESTINY. We are still waiting on the story of those four years to be told and the cliffhangers from the final books to be resolved. The books after the jump that have to do with DS9 are...

  • Destiny, Book 1: Gods of Night
  • Destiny, Book 2: Mere Mortals
  • Destiny, Book 3: Lost Souls
  • A Singular Destiny
  • Typhon Pact: Rough Beasts of Empire
  • Typhon Pact: Zero Sum Game
  • Typhon Pact: Paths of Disharmony
  • Typhon Pact: Plagues of Night
  • Typhon Pact: Raise the Dawn
  • Typhon Pact: Brinkmanship

Taken from a post of mine in another thread...

If you're interested in the post-series DS9 novels (commonly called the DS9 Relaunch), it's generally recommended that you read them in publishing order.

After the launch of the Typhon Pact series, the exact definition of what is and is not a DS9 Relaunch novel gets a bit muddled, since "Typhon Pact" is the series header they're using for several DS9 and TNG novels. But I'm included TYP novels that seem relevant to the DS9 storyline to me. I'm also including novels that heavily feature major DS9 characters, such as the Destiny trilogy.

  • A Stitch in Time by Andrew J. Robinson (2000)
  • Avatar, Book One by S.D. Perry (2001)
  • Avatar, Book Two by S.D. Perry (2001)
  • Section 31: Abyss by Jeffrey Lang and David Weddle (2001)
  • Gateways: Demons of Air and Darkness by Keith R.A. DeCandido (2001)
  • Gateways: What Lay Beyond: "Horn and Ivory" by Keith R.A. DeCandido (2001)
  • Mission: Gamma, Books One through Four:
    - Twilight by David R. George III (2002)
    - This Grey Spirit by Heather Jarman (2002)
    - Cathedral by Andy Mangels and Michael A. Martin (2002)
    - Lesser Evil by Robert Simpson (2002)
  • The Lives of Dax ed. Marco Palmieri (1999; 2002 reprint)
  • Rising Son by S.D. Perry (2003)
  • The Left Hand of Destiny, Book One by J.G. Hertzler and Jeffrey Lang (2003)
  • The Left Hand of Destiny, Book Two by J.G. Hertzler and Jeffrey Lang (2003)

ryan123450, you should really edit your post so that RBoE. ZSG, PoN, and RtD are bolded because they are central to the DS9 Relaunch, with ZSG even having the tag 'The saga of Deep Space Nine will continue' attached to its final page.

I debated bolding things in that section, but I couldn't decide what not to bold. Paths of Disharmony is central to the Shar storyline, but isn't even a DS9 book, and if ZSG is a bold why not Destiny and ASD. So I just left them all.

Are the two feringie book worth reading?

Assuming you're referring to The 34th Rule by David R. George III and Armin Shimmerman and to Ferenginar: Satisfaction is Not Guaranteed by Keith R.A. DeCandido?

Yes. Yes, they are.

I haven't read The 34th Rule, but Satisfaction is not Guaranteed is one of my favorite Ferengi stories in the entire franchise.

Then you should definitely, definitely, check out The 34th Rule. One of the best Star Trek novels ever written, what Quark and Rom go through in that novel was so affecting.

I definitely plan to in the very near future, but I'm trying to expand my reading habits, so I'm not getting through the Trek books as quickly as I used.

Well thanks everyone, I appreciate the lists. I actually have a few of these books already from one heck of a deal I got off kijiji last year. So I'm off to a good start
