Apparently making ammunition is really easy.

Any Survivalist store has a number of hand crank powered (reverse canopeners) bullet packers.

You just have to pick up the shell casings after you empty a clip.

More so recycling ammunition than "making" it seems.

But 8 years of McGyver taught us all that you can make a bomb out of almost anything.

I still think that superglue is the weapon of the future against almost any conceivable opponent.

So who wants to bet that that nice community with hot water that what's-her-face with the airplane was talking about is secretly being run by the aliens and is, in fact, one of their "reservations" mentioned in the premiere? My guess is they're tricking the humans into thinking it's a resistance camp so people will flock there voluntarily.

It would also explain how she's flying around without getting shot down. "Fly low and avoid radar with a plane made of wood" my ass. They'd be able to freaking hear it if nothing else.

I think that the aliens either don't care as long as they aren't being attacked or they have bigger plans for the surviving humans rather than just wiping them out.

The compass was a very nicely done way to tie in storylines with themes. The scenes with Pope were still rather flabby. Tom still wins?Obviously he should have grabbed the compass, and hung on to it while Pope beat his fetal position ass until the others were afraid Pope would kill him. The real problem is that Pope isn't a character but a badass cliche.

The only questions are, why don't they wonder if Charleston is a reservation? If a major plot point depends on the Wyle and Patton being idiots, it really is very flabby writing indeed.

And, does Ben have any real idea of something happening to him? If the spinelighting thing is something like a seizure, short term memory loss is perfectly natural. It seems to me he's just vaguely suspicious of missing time.

Dude, this is a MAJOR plot point.

I don't think that Tom has told anyone about the reservations.

There's three possible reasons he might do this...

1. Tom is so arrogant that he assumes that if every one thinks like he thinks, then it's irrelevant if they have to go through the motions of choosing not to surrender, because everyone that thinks like he does would never surrender.

2. Tom is afraid that he is wrong, and that no one thinks like he does and humanity will surrender and beg for entry into the reservation, so they don't deserve the right to chose.

3. Tom thinks that the aliens are lying, so he can't be bothered spreading disinformation and dissension about possible yet implausible reservations that if they exist will probably be converted quickly enough into deathcamps which brings us back Tom having no faith in his fellow man.

Given Toms deeper understanding of History(compared to the rest of the characters), I think the question is why would, or when will, he tell the others? If indeed he hasn't already.

We all on here know the reputation "reservations"(you could also use the words concentration camps, Relocation camps, or ghetto's). Even tho the aliens(writers) chose to use the Native American version, why would Tom have any kind of faith that this "olive branch" was anything more than an attempt to bring about "A final solution to the Human Question"?

I think that your being unfair to character by saying he has no faith in the people around him, in fact as the show has gone along, Toms character has been the most willing to believe in those around him.

I was not overly impressed with this weeks show,the first 30 minutes was great, skitter hunting, dramatic unexpected character death, Ben's alien activation, and the understated hatred he has for them, and himself.
But then the woman in the plane landed, and I could not suspend my disbelief anymore. They honestly expert us to believe this woman is flying around in a plane over alien occupied territory and has lived all the way to make it from Charleston SC, and that Tom, knowing what he knows about the "reservations", believes this woman's story??

^^Agreed. The woman in the loud, slow plane was just stupid. If she had been searching for them for weeks, where did she get the fuel for the plane? My guess is the aliens allowed her to fly around because they want the humans to go to the reservation in Charleston in order to breed new skitters for their army. She, and the rest of the people in Charleston probably don't realize what is actually going on and the 2nd Mass will figure it out once the get there and assemble a massive army. Still, despite it's flaws I like this show.

Me, too. It has a certain charm you don't see in many genre series like this.

Although, Carleston... Now THAT is going to be quite a long journey, especially if they're only in upstate New York right now. I'm curious to see what other towns & cities they'll be moving through on the way.

This was my exact thought when I just watched the episode. I was yelling at the TV, "Why don't you check to see if she has a harness under all those layers of clothing." She was also way to familiar with both the Captain and Tom, like she KNEW them. To me it was like the Alien was talking to them and not the woman.

Eh, this show is still feeling really flat. It's like they have all the right elements but don't quite know how to put them together correctly: willingness to kill a major-ish character like Jimmy, to amp up the conflict between Tom and Pope, to not immediately throw Tom and Ann in bed together, to discuss the pro's and con's of having possible fifth columnists among them and come to a reasonable conclusion that it's a risk they have to take, to have contact with the outside world that shows other people are moving forward with their own plans - all good.

Yet, the dialogue is so clumsy and lacking in spark and a lot of the acting is just off. The scenes with Ben and Jimmy, for instance - I know they're young actors, but it's still not fun to have to slog through amateur hour. The kid playing Ben in particular isn't very good at the "big emotional" scenes.

The woman who flew in with news about Charleston was very stiff, and her overly expository dialogue didn't help much. In retrospect, perhaps the idea was to convey that she's a mere mannequin, being used by the skinnies to deliver clumsy dialogue and lure them all to the Charleston camps, but it's hard to separate that out from the usual level of bad acting in this show. It also makes me wonder why Weaver and Tom didn't notice that there was something odd about her.

I'll keep watching in hopes of improvement. At least there's more action this year.

^Temis, I think this is as about as good as it will ever be, slightly better then mediocre. It will have its ups and downs but I think this is the means. Many people say any science fiction tv show is better then none, I don't agree but this is not the worst thing ever to air. So I will stick with it, unless it gets really ridiculous. Like a lot of shows that film in Canada, sometimes talent can be hard to come by.

It's just a fun show. Like I said before, it's an Irwin Allen show for the 21st century-- it doesn't need too much overthinking. Although that woman definitely needed a strip search.

I didn't mention it because eh, it just didn't come off as shocking or even all that interesting. It was kinda expected, and I just thought, "so? what's the point?"

And yeah, I fear this is not going to ever become the show I want. Oh well.
