I would prefer Gene Colan doing art on Wonder Woman with Azzarello. Colan had a sense of movement that was subtle and powerful, even when the action was slight or non-existent. He'd be so many kinds of awesome on this I might just forget my reservations with the story.

I figured the first issue of Earth 2 with the younger non-super powered (until he gets them later) version of Scott Alan already meant his kids were probably gone.

Lets be honest DC played it safe with making Alan Scott gay, while being hailed for making this bold move they still played it safe and used a Character that while important still isn't well known outside of the Comicbook world.

It's like when Marvel killed Peter Parker and replaced him with a Black kid, bold yes but it was the Ultimate version not the "real one".

So while big deals Marvel and DC still aren't willing to really let their main characters undergo such changes....yet.

I don't find Marvel comics all that interesting, but in fairness a change in an Ultimate character can turn out to be a pretty big deal - that line seems to seed aspects of their film universe, which must increasingly drive the direction of the corporation. Look at Nick Fury.

This is a rebooted Alan Scott....different character, same name. And it wouldn't matter even if he wasn't gay, he's way too young to have fathered children who'd be in their early 20's, so the characters were lost the moment they decided to make Alan early to mid 20's-ish.

There's also 50, more or less, chances we'll find versions of Jade and Obsidian existing somewhere in the DC multiverse. And keep in mind they'll be just as rebooted as everything else, even if they ended up being the kids of some other Alan Scott.

No too much seeing their keeping the name Avengers and we aren't seeing Captain America becoming a jerk-ass.

Besides no offense to Miles Morales or his fans but I doubt they would actually go with killing off Peter Parker in a Spider-man movie and replacing him or at least they wouldn't do ita long time seeing as Parker has more name recognition.

Quite a bit, actually. It's hard to get around Nick Fury. The new Spider-Man looks a little Ultimate-y, too.

Parker's "name recognition" is negligible next to that of Spider-Man himself. I don't see them making a "kill Parker" movie but it's not at all hard to see them doing Morales or someone like him in the next reboot - depending on what they want the casting to be and how they read the target demos worldwide.

This is why they should've just called it a REBOOT, not relaunch.

    The slate is clean really.

^ At least until DC does this all over again, AGAIN, which will probably be in a year or two. I doubt this 'crisis' will be any more final than the last six were!

Really a hard, complete, reboot is probably what they should have done. There still seems to be too many strands of the old continuity (particularly in Batman).

The titles still drawing in whole or part are:
Green Lantern and family titles...hello Red Lanterns!!
    Swamp Thing
    Animal Man
Hawk & Dove (cancelled) but the characters themselves still hold
    Aquaman
Deadman over in Justice League Dark
    John Constantine again in JLD
    Hawkman
    Firestorm

These were all players in the Brightest Day & Search for Swamp Thing that all ran in whole or part into the nu52 versions.

That's why the "great new jumping in point" as part of their story rang hollow. Should've just stuck with the digital sales angle cause it was only partial true for the lines relaunch. Add the Bat titles in there and other main GL books and it's half the line is tied in some way to "old" continuity.

^ I think that's true - there's some good and some great stuff in the new 52, but it's the same day digital that has me buying more titles. I suspect I'd be buying the same number if they'd just announced that, while adding a few new titles: Demon Knights, Frankenstein, the re-incorporated Vertigo-verse.

All such terms are chosen specifically for their marketing value in a given situation. They mean nothing.

Where are they selling digital comics?

Just their website, or have they got a deal with places like Itunes?

they can't go back to the news stands but they have to go some places with an untapped consumer base, and their own website is not it.

I disagree. Well. Partially. Obviously, chosen for marketing value, but they DO mean something. We understand relaunch differently than reboot. Expectations are different.

    Comixology?

When I bought the JLA #1 that was where it directed me. I had to create an account there and now every week since then I get an email about buying "this weeks books".

Who but someone already deeply invested in comics is going to happen upon that website?

    Music isn't good enough.

Marvel and DC need to sell their comics where people buy their pornography.

Seriously, idiots who will PAY for porn, will pay for anything.

I would have liked a hard reboot as well but I have trouble reconciling how you do that. Like how can we have the Batmans and Supermans having their origins told yet still have room for Nightwing, Teen Titans, hell even Justice League would be a year or so out.

There are definitely problems with that too.

Well, it'd be a good chance to streamline things.

There's more to good art and visual storytelling than detail.
