Avatar Challenge: Britain

That's how I always do it to get my avatar down to size.

That's why I told him to upload that avatar to be his board avatar and tell me how it looks because I knew it would've gotten squished.

Yeah you did and it didn't "squish" down. Nevermind, third time lucky:

Here you go Dimesdan, try using this one. I just ask you to host it yourself.

.
Oh. does it need to be square?

I did not know that actually and yes, of course I'll host that myself.

No, avatars don't need to be square. It just makes sense to utilize every pixel if you've got an image that could benefit from it.

Here's how avatars work, both in contests and on the forum itself: you can use an image that's no larger than 150x150, and no more than 140 KB. If you upload an image that's less than 140 KB but larger than 150x150, the image will be automatically compressed down to 150x150, which would distort it. If you try to upload an image that's 150x150 or less, but larger than 140 KB, you will not be able to upload it at all.

Every avatar contest follows the same rules as the forum does, probably just in case someone wants to use one of their entries (or someone else's) as their own personal avatar at some point.

Geez, you guys are going a little crazy with those rules.

i thought it was pretty bloody simple, British characters or fictional places no SF or fantasy. plenty of goddamn war movies, cop shows, medical shows, sitcoms and bloody adaptations of books to choose from!

The Bill, Hollyoaks, Last of the Summer Wine, Eastenders, Coranation Street, Crossroads, Only Fools and Horses, Vicar of Dibley, Casualty, Holby City, Luther, Morse/Lewis, Miss Marple, Brookside, Waterloo Road, London's Burning, Soldier, Soldier, Dempsey and Makepeace, The Professionals, etc. etc. etc.

You banned mine because it would have won.

Given the strict criteria, does a Teddy Bear dressed as Sherlock Holmes count? He's very British.

But Paddington isn't British! He's from darkest Peru. Which last time I looked didn't have a UK post code.

I've been waiting for the right moment to use Sherlock Bear. I don't really care about votes and winning. Just wanted to show him off. ;-)
