I've counseled enough Christian teens on the subject. Just like "if it's oral it isn't sex, right?", "if I pray forgiveness, God forgets it, right?" is so common, that it just speaks volumes about the state of devout, fundamentalist faith for these kids. They want to know it's alright to be human, and that's tough to deal with sometimes.

Not every person who smokes gets lung cancer. Still doesn't mean it's good for you.

I honestly can't fathom how someone can be against sex or maturbation without actually experiencing it.

Interesting! Still, either way you look at it, the chance of getting prostate cancer later in life is high, and it would behoove men to do whatever they can to minimize that risk.

I think the problem is less that it's "not very smart" and more that he'll like change his mind. Most people who are celibate at 16 won't end up that way at 40.

And if he doesn't want people to know about it, then he should be publicly announcing it to people who didn't care in the first place.

For some. I had a teen once tell me he thought it was okay to have sex as long as he didn't "let it go all the way in". These kids are desperate for human contact, their hormones are powerful and fighting them and this dogma the whole way, and the only ones who really suffer for it are these kids. It eats away at them, it confuses them, it gives them fears and phobias they shouldn't have.
