High Heels Are, Quite Literally, For Morons

The Master of Tarquin Hill

Commodore

I recently posted a thread about ear rings. And, I must say, the majority of the comments reflected my personal view that they were unnecessary.

Moving on.

High heels are stupid. Stupid people wear high heels. Etc & so on.

Have you ever seen a young woman in a supermarket in high heels? Especially one that hasn't mastered this superficial skill?

Its like these women have never learned about foot binding.

I don't find high heels sexy. I see someone who is seriously in need of education about...a great many things.

I don’t know your gender or sexual orientation, but I can assure you that the majority of straight men do find high heels on women sexy.

And that’s why women wear them.

You want to start a revolution or something?

Oh, and high heels aren’t even remotely comparable to the mutilating and crippling practice of Chinese foot binding.

Everybody has an opinion.

Superficial skill? Superficial?

I'd like to see you wear them for more than 5 minutes without falling on your supercilious posterior.

Broad generalizations are stupid. I won't say that people who make broad generalizations are stupid, but I don't find it a particularly intelligent behaviour.

I don't find high heels sexy. I see someone who is seriously in need of education about...a great many things.
I don't find broad generalizations smart. I see someone who is seriously in need of education about... more or less everything, especially how not to make a fool of themselves.

Classic high heels are extremely sexy. Platforms and wedge heels not so much.

And it isn't what they do to the butt, it is what they do to the legs.

But I concur, they are imminently unpractical, which just makes me appreciate the women who go to that length all the more.

OP has it back to front; since when was wearing heels meant to demonstrate intelligence?

On the contrary, they're sexual and/or power role signifiers.

In other words, they're meant to demonstrate these:

And a damn good job they do of it, too! Long live high heels... :D

there's a designer somewhere trying to make it cool for men to wear them too . . .
probably not going to catch on though

the thing that annoys me about heels is the sound they make . . . can't they make them so they don't sound like you're stomping around?

Leave it to Holdfast to illustrate his point with a fashion show. A color-coordinated fashion show, no less! :bolian:

I personally love them. They make me feel so feminine and girly. I've been wearing them for over ten years now, and I've quite perfectly mastered walking in them. They're fun, and cute, and make a great outfit even better. I'd wear nothing but heels if I could. :D

I'm sensing an imminent flood of "this thread is useless without pictures" comments.

God no, the clicking sound is great; I love hearing it. Certainly a whole load sexier than that awful squeaky sound that accompanies sneakers.

You know, the shoes I'm wearing today (regular men's plain-toe oxfords and not high heels, I assure you!) have metal toe taps to reduce the wear rate on the leather soles, and they also make that clicking sound. But a majority of my other normal dress shoes with leather soles also tend to make the clicky sound on hard floors, albeit at a lower register than girls' heels do. So I think it's more to do with leather soles than it is to do with the height of the heel. The height seems to affect the frequency of the sound, more than its presence or absence.

Co-ordinated by celebrity; the colours were a happy (unconscious?) accident... :D

Yes, they can feel girly -- and powerful. Enjoy! (I do, occasionally.) But alternate them with flats. As you get older, your feet, calves, hamstrings and lower back will thank you for every day that you wore flats. :)

Oh yes, my back is already starting to feel it. lol. It's hard for me to wear flats because I'm so used to balancing on the front of my feet, then when I put on flats it feels like I'm falling backwards

Ooh, Christian Louboutin ftw! Louboutin equals Love :D

IMO, the nicest Louboutin is the Pigalle in patent, but in the lower 85mm height rather than the 100mm one. It's just perfectly proportioned; the higher one messes that up a bit and looks wrong. The 85mm one:

But I must admit their black satin bow on black suede evening gown type of shoe from a couple of years ago is my all time fave; it's just so flouncy...

Wow. The The Master of Tarquin Hill must have the dullest life ever.
Seriously, OP, you're beginning to sound as if you think any woman who wears something more extravagant than a brown smock and mules is a superficial, idiotic dolt. Get off your judgemental, sexist high horse and lighten up.
