Hawaii 5-0: The Second Season Begins!

In before someone complains about this episode blatantly violating Hawaii Five-O canon.

The use of the original August March footage to establish the character here was fantastic. Ed Asner's complete 180 from the old man he was playing earlier back into March proper was unexpected and awesome.

The season finale airs May 14th. Here's a synopsis:
Five-0 goes on a manhunt when one of their own is killed in the line of duty.

I wonder who is going to die. No doubt it's not one of the four leads. I'm thinking it's Joe White who is a goner.

That would be my guess. The actor who plays the character you suggested is tied to one of the new fall pilots, so I was starting to question his future availability anyway.

Yeah, I concur. Plus
it gives McGarrett even more of a reason for vengeance, given that it's probably Wo Fat who takes him out.

And kinda true!

I'm excited about Michelle Borth being on the show full time. Catherine is really cool, and it will be fun to have another character on with a Navy background.

Very cool news, but I hope they strike a better balanace between the characters than they did when Lori was on the show. Her screentime seemed to come at the expense of Kono and Chin Ho.

Nothing about last night's bottle episode without Alex O'Loughlin?

Generally I still enjoyed it because Danno, Chin Ho and Max had plenty to do (with Kono strangely absent for most of the episode as well) but that was the definition of filler. It's like the writers said, "Okay, the episode has to end with McGarrett in Japan hunting Shellburne...we can improvise everything else in the middle."

Here's hoping the season ends with a bang in the next few weeks.

I think when Chin Ho was rewritten to cover for the loss of McGarrett's his time with Kono went away also

She was busy looking for the shrimp truck. :techman:

Aw, I thought it wasn't a bad episode, and that it was fun to get a little backstory on Max! Plus, Danno acting like a teenage girl who got dumped by the captain of the football team and calling Steve 8000 times was pretty funny, too. I missed Steve in the episode, but I thought they had a good way of explaining his absence (as opposed to "Steve got the flu" or something like that). And The Case of the Missing Shrimp Truck was funny, too.

I don't get why they sandwiched a new episode between 2 reruns. I hate that because I forget it's on...thankfully the DVR knows when it's on. Good episode but I missed the Steve and Danny show. I was surpriseded it was the deacon guy...I was expecting the killer to be the guy who took Max down to the basement who the deacon later killed.

That, strictly speaking, wasn't a "bottle episode".

I used that phrase based on how relatively isolated the episode felt, both in terms of sets and showing the hustle and bustle of Oahu. Normally it feels like the action is taking place in the middle of a living, breathing city but this episode had little of that (e.g., only at the end with Kono bringing back the shrimp truck) with much of the story taking place on isolated sets with only the necessary characters present. I think the gray weather had something to do with it too.

The crossover with NCIS: LA begins tonight! I usually think crossovers are pretty hit and miss and I don't watch NCIS: LA, but I'm kind of looking forward to this one.

At last the crossover is here. Too bad Alex O'Laughlin wasn't able to be in it. I really wanted to see him and LL Cool J together. They're both former SEALS so seeing them interact would've been cool.
