Bumping this thread with a heads-up to a set of "Mission Farpoint" iPhone wallpapers I just did. I'm a sucker for sharp and crystal-clear retina lock screens, and with the sampler disc out I decided to just make my own using the screencaps from TrekCore.com.

Just to be clear, I didn't just scale the images down to the iPhone screen size, no, I actually handpicked the nicest images and optimized them for the small but beautiful screen (in most cases I had to add belivable top and bottom halves, in some I actually had to splice two or three different screencaps).

You can download the free set of 50 wallpapers here.

I hope there a some who'll enjoy these. Let me know if you do. :)

Yeah. The lack of activity in this thread makes me sad.

Let us get it going again...

One thing I'm especially looking forward to is how they get the REAL classics, like BOBW, onto Blu Ray. In high definition will the graveyard scene hold up? I suspect not, in which case will they rpelicate it with CGI, or add in a CG Excelsior as the Melbourne, the Saratoga and other ships we know to have been there?

Specifically for BoBW - what about damage? The Ent-D takes a pasting while fighting the Borg, yet shows no sign of it on the hull, maybe CGI some damage in?

Thoughts?

CGIing damage is not going to happen. They've given no indication they plan to modify/"improve" episodes like that. And once you start it's hard to decide what to tweak and what to leave alone.

The graveyard scene will be interesting. I imagine they will look at the original negatives and decide if it will hold up in HD. If it doesn't, then who knows what we'll get.

Well sometimes expectations are met, what else can you really say about such a project. Its been wonderful and I look forward to more.

It would certainly be nice to know when it's coming out and how much it'll cost us, that's for sure.

I've heard they are working very hard to complete the first season, tight deadlines and really working under the gun. No details on the release date but a ton of behind the scenes work and negotiations for stuff.

As far as I'm concerned, they can release it "when it's ready". I'm in no hurry for a rush job. :) Get it done, yes, but get it right.

I really hope that they will enlargen the language options for audio AND subtitles, especially in the European release. However, I get the feeling that they will not do much about, having seen "the next level" which was a big disappointment in this regard. I will most likely just stick to the DVD sets I already own. Btw, for the same reason I did not buy the remastered TOS seasons.

^Is this because of vision issues? Just curious.
I suspect (and Reeborg, please correct me if I'm wrong) that he meant "expand" when he said "enlargen" - that is, offer more languages as secondary audio tracks and subtitles.

Would you mind sharing your reason for this preference? You seem to have little to no trouble with the English language. Wouldn't you prefer to watch the show in the language it was originally performed? Also, remember, the more language options they add, the more they have to lower the video bitrate in order to fit everything on the discs. There are 23 official languages of the European Union. Which ones should stay and which ones should go... and how far are you willing to lower the video quality to accomplish this?

Subtitles, on the other hand, wouldn't use up much space at all, so I can't argue with you there.
