Do people here think Return of the Jedi was a way better movie than The Matrix Revolutions? Maybe if Revolutions had been better made, the whole franchise might have been remembered more fondly.
I DO think Return of the Jedi is a way better movie. (Well, maybe not WAY). But, unlike Revolutions, I wasn't cheering for the Empire to win by the end of Jedi.
I pretty much LOATHED the characters in Revolutions... that General guy and that whiny kid... HATED them. Most of the characters in Zion, I hated. I was wanted the machines to wipe them out, all of them.
I didn't feel that way in Jedi.
People will overlook a weak middle act as long as the beginning and ending acts are great.
I actually don't think the Matrix movies suffered from a weak middle act. Reloaded wasn't that bad... it expanded the universe. Clearly, it's not as good as Empire... but it's not a bad movie. I think it suffered because of expectations.
But Revolutions: it stank. Basically, because it was so bad, I won't buy Reloaded on DVD...
There can be only one... movie.
