Any word on a Teaser Trailer with this summer movie season? And..

The new movie won’t be called “Star Trek” again. Even if Abrams wanted to call it that, the studio won’t let him.

The general movie going public associates movies with the same name with two things: Remakes\reboots\reimagining\whatever and rereleases. Both are associations that the studio doesn’t want to have with its big tent pole movie.

I agree. If this was, say. 7 to 10 years after the 2009 Star Trek film, and it had a different cast, then it would probably be OK to call it simply "Star Trek". However, considering this is a direct sequel to the 2009 film with the same cast, there is no way they will give it the the exact same title as the 2009 film.

Well think about how often an old Batman movie used the same title. There was "Batman" in the early 40s and then "Batman" in 1966 and again in 1989. "Batman and Robin" was used twice-in the latter half of the 40s and again in 1997. But they were far apart enough and with different casts and crew that it just didn't matter. But for Star Trek? So soon after the last film? No sir.

I loved when Spielberg, or someone on his team, quipped that "Jaws 2" wasn't going to be using a Roman numeral in its title because they were saving "Jaws II" for the eleventh "Jaws" film.

We're good.

On a different note, there was something said awhile back from our own TrekToday regarding the title for the next movie:

In other Star Trek 2 news, producer Bryan Burk was at [a] same function as [Simon] Pegg, and in answering a question, almost gave out a bit of information regarding the title of the Abrams sequel. “Oh, we’re not calling it Star Trek 2 anymore,” he said. “Just…” and then Burk stopped, realizing that he had almost let something slip.
Just...what? D'Oh!
:scream:
Pineapple?

:scream:

"Just Dandy"?
"Just Rewards"?
"Just Desserts"?
"Just in Time"?
"Justice for All"?
"Justice of the Peace"?
"Justin Timberlake"?
"Justin Bieber?"
"Just Don't Call me Late for Dinner"?

It's probably one of those.

Unlikely.

I've always liked the phrase "To Boldly Go" for a Star Trek movie title (not for a subtitle, but the full title), the split-infinitive be damned...

...However, that may not say "Star Trek" enough to the casual movie goer.

Of course most won't (But some might believe it's a re-release), I'm not talking about that though, I'm talking about Filmography and DVD Sales and such.
Which hasn't been a problem with movies with the same name.
So, you can't think of any examples either, eh?
Can you think of any examples of movies that had the exact same name?
No, I can't think of any movies that are direct sequels with the same cast that have the same name as their predecessor, that's exactly my point, you are the one who claimed it happens all the time, I was disputing the fact and asking you for some of those examples to back up the claim?

Well, you could maybe count The Fast and the Furious series in which the fourth entry was titled Fast and Furious.

They're calling it just...

Kha-a-a-a-a-a-an!

That'd be silly since Khan isn't going to be in it. :p

Abrams said we could find clues to the next movie in the IDW Star Trek Comic Books #'s 1 and 4. Maybe we should look at those books as clues to names for the movie.

How about....Gary Mitchell and the Monster Monkeys. :guffaw:
Nahhh! Too obvious.
