Provoking traffic offences, common outside sweden?

Good for you. What exactly are you doubting?

As for the lights. Please tell me, because i find this really entertaining. Why would i stop when i don't have to? Isn't that kinda unnecessary?

Google translate:

P11 Pull over and stop in front of police vehicle

The symbol indicates that the driver of the vehicle is front of the police vehicle run into the curb and stay. The sign is given by alternately flashing blue and red light.

Fresh stories about your (imaginary) foul-mouthed rants at police officers please - you've been dining out on this one since yesterday now and I'm growing weary of it.

I've seen a LOT of those cheap police camera action type of shows to imagine the exact scenario.

Only with less of Sherrif John Burnell's ridiculously biased commentary! :p

Hey, I actually kinda miss John Bunnell, in a train wreck sort of way...

Although I confess I watch Disorderly Conduct (with Robert Patrick - yes, that one) regularly. :shifty:

^ Yeah, I wondered about that. He always claimed to be a real cop but was he? I mean, with teeth like that? It's like George Hamilton put on a uniform...

That's one thing about Robert Patrick's narration (of Disorderly Conduct). He just can't pull off one-liners like John Bunnell could. Although sometimes it hits comedy gold anyway:

"This man decided to rob a bank, now he'll learn CRIME DOESN'T PAY". :guffaw:

Yeah he was a real police officer.

I bet Sherriff John Bunnell wouldn't have stood for any of Ares 'Beat my Ferrarri' 93's shit.

In the United Sates if an emergency vehicle is coming up behind you displaying lights and siren you pull over and stop. Period. Whether or not you thing the police car vehicle is intended for you. Even on coming traffic is expected to pull over and stop. Why? Because it is an emergency vehicle! It's name implies it is on it's way to an emergency! The fire truck, that ambulance, that police car, is heading towards a crisis and the sooner it can get there the better as lives may be at stake.

So if a police car is coming up behind you showing lights and siren you start pulling over to give it room to pass, you should then be able to tell if it is following you pulling over and then decide if you need to get completely off the road/pulled over or if the cop is going to pass.

Mate, I learned to drive when I was 13. I know what to do when an emergency vehicle shows up. But in regards of coppers, he can flash his genitals for all i care. Unless the light is RED and Blue, i wont stop and i wont care if he follows me or not. I will pull to the side and do whatever it takes to help him overtake me, but other than that, its on him. This isn't the US. American laws don't apply.

I pull over when I see lights coming in either direction. It's the law. It's a courtesy as well. If they are going to an emergency of some kind, I want them to get there as fast as they can as if they are going to help a loved one of mine. And I hope others on the road are thinking the same way.

It happens here too. About a year ago I was driving on a 2 way street when I came up on a vehicle that was stopped in front of me. There were two SUV's in front of her facing towards her blocking the road. Since she didn't move, I went around her. As soon as I got past her, one of the SUV's swung out and blocked me, it was Sheriff's Deputy vehicle he started screaming at me, telling he could arrest me, tow my car, etc., but never got out of the SUV. He asked me asked if I knew how drive, if I had a license, etc.... and that it was illegal to pass for any reason on the left over a double yellow.

I stayed calm and said yes, no to his questions. And then told him that since I didn't know how long he was going to block the road, and that he didn't have his lights on that I was allowed to pass on the left. That pissed him off even more, telling me I was a fucking idiot if I believed that. I told him to look up section 40-6-40 on exceptions to passing in a no passing zone, and that it did allow me to go around a blocked roadway and that he was also required to operate his light during a stop, he sat there glaring at me for a few seconds, then said he'd be watching for me, I told him thank you for his concern about my safety. He then stomped on the gas, and left a nice long skidmark when he pulled away. The other SUV sat there the whole time, and then pulled in around me after I pulled away, and followed almost all the way home.

In the diagram the deputy suv's are brown, the other car blue, mine red and the blue circle is a fountain sitting on a flat plaza with black fencing around the whole thing. There were not any cars coming towards me or on the adjoining roadway.

Supposed to look like this, something happened when it uploaded to photobucket.

Dude I don't mean to be harsh, but are you colorblind by any chance? Because your colors seem way off to me.

In all seriousness, ed, are you colorblind? Nothing in that picture is the color you say it is, except the fountain.

ETA: Ninja'd by Kestra!

Unless you use a computer with a transreflective screen, your colors are seriously buggered, mate.

I'm trying to figure out which car is the blue car. Is it the yellow car? Blue/yellow colorblindness is a thing, right?

Well, what I'm getting from this is that he might have trouble distinguishing red hues, so what he thinks is "brown" could be anything from brown to a shade of green (since brown is just green+red.)

That, or his computer's display is just out of whack.
