Star Wars: The Clone Wars S4

ReadyAndWilling, I just watched Cat and Mouse from season 2 and I think it has some of what you're looking for... it's a fleet combat story but more like Hunt for Red October. The spider-dude commander is a highlight. That guy is creepy!

hey man, thanks. i'm gonna check that ep out again.

Here's the Clone Wars wookiepieda article...yeah about three years then. My bad.

Here's their article on the ROTS novel which is considered (C Canon in the ranking system for the SW Canon)

Filoni talked about possibly prolonging the war.

the show is just so awesome. i wish they'd do 10 seasons.

What I don't get is why they have to have Anakin constantly fighting Dooku, when there are any number of other Jedi characters that could fight him.

Most Jedi just aren't good enough. Dooku was a master swordsman of a lightsaber form that was probably the most suited against lightsaber combat.

Mace and Kit are good enough, and I strongly doubt they are the only ones. The problem is that having Mace or Kit fight Dooku wouldn't be a lazy dump on continuity so it wouldn't really appeal to Filoni & Co. Besides, I don't see what's so great about Makashi.

This is why I'm glad the big wigs at the Star Trek franchise were more honest with us, it avoids the whole delusions of grandure that the books are on the same footing as the shows and films, which means less angry fans.

They and the other two that died fighting Palpatine were considered to be the best swordsmen of the Jedi Order alongside Obi-Wan, Yoda and Anakin. Making the list of Jedi that can fight Dooku on an even footing to be only a handful.

Besides, I don't see what's so great about Makashi.
Its the perfect form to use against the Jedi since it was created for lightsaber dueling as opposed to deflection or simple avoidance.

What *REALLY* pisses me off is they haven't done a single Yoda episode since the very first episode of the series! This is the perfect opportunity to do Yoda stories!

Most forms are created for dueling, though. Yoda does fine against it, for example, and he is generally thought to be using a different form.

No. Yoda is simply more powerful than Dooku. But the form he uses is to compensate for his height and lack of range and is characterized by speed and dodging. Likewise Obi-Wan's form is built around defense and deflection against blasters. None of them except Dooku's were created to directly address lightsaber to lightsaber combat.

That doesn't make sense. What were they created for, then? You even say "Obi-Wan's form is built around defense and deflection". The defense part refers to swordfighting.

Yoda does not use Makashi. He is said to use Ataru, which is not something unique created to compensate for his size.

It is to compensate for his size and lack of range or lack of reach via jumps and greater speed.

Other Jedi use it. It isn't created just for Yoda.

No defense against blasters. That was why it was created.

If "defense" means "deflection" then "defense and deflection" is redundant. Soresu is not just about blasters. ROTS and its novelization make that painfully clear.

yeah i've love to see ventress and grievous take a duel with yoda.

there are so many duels with obi and grievous.

I just got around to watching the last two episodes this morning, and I really liked them both. The season is definitely getting alot better now.
Sorry to hear about the guy who plays (played now I guess) Palpatine. Sorry if this has been covered, I skipped a bunch of pages, but do we know what episode will be his last?

IIRC, it was reported a few months before Ian Abercrombie's death that they'd recorded voice tracks for half of the fifth season already. So it's quite possible they finished recording season 5 (which I think is planned to be the last season) before he passed away. But that's conjecture.
