Some things are lost, some amassed

If left to my own devices, I would hoard very rapidly. I don't actually like mess, so instead, prefer to control my accumulation of things to manageable proportions and rationalise what I own every couple of years or so. If nothing else, it stops me spending too much.

My husband and I are natural hoarders so we have to make an effort to keep on top of things lest we amass way too much crap again. I'm better about it than my husband, and usually have to convince him that having 3 non-working stereos in our old, leaky garage isn't doing anyone any good. He's better than he used to be, but when we were first married he was so bad at never throwing anything away that I used to occasionally get rid of some of his stuff and he never even noticed.

I'm another one who hangs on to lone socks for months on end. I've kept lone socks after my kids had outgrown them, which is simply stupid of me.

I do a lot of needlecrafting and am always hunting for tape measures. I must have at least a dozen of the blessed things in the house but can never find one when I need one. I sometimes buy a craft magazine just because it comes with a free tape measure.

Oh, HELL, no. See, that would drive me crazy right there (which, granted, is a short ride at the best of times).

We bought an exercise bike four or five days ago. The box is still sitting in the upstairs hall and it's about to push me over the edge. Hubby has promised to get rid of it this coming week (he always wants to keep boxes, for some reason). If he doesn't, I will drag it out to the corner myself. Our little storage room is full of boxes; the last thing I want to see is another box.

When my youngest son was preparing to move to Queensland I ordered a medium moving kit for him which consisted of

- 10 Tea Chest / Removalist Cartons
- 5 Book / Crystal Cartons
- 5 Archive Cartons
- 10m of bubble wrap (1.40m wide & 4.8mm thick)
- 1 Heavy Duty Packaging Tape
- 1 Marker Pen

it was $105 with free delivery.

Once he had packed everything he was going to take there were plenty of boxes left over. They are twin wall corrugated cardboard boxes so are quite strong. They come flatpacked and are easy to store behind a door. I now refuse to keep any other boxes.
