Liam Neeson & Christian Bale "You're F'd" images

I've never understood all the love for Taken, if I wanna watch a movie about an ex-army guy who's daughter is kidnapped and he proceeds to kill everyone who gets in his way... I'll take Commando any day.

At least that's amusing with its ridiculousness. John Matrix could take "Bryan Mills" without blinking :)

And in regards to that "I will find you" speech, again, Matrix always says it better

RE: Taken VS Commando

I think it's a case of Liam Neeson being "normal" looking, and how calm and matter of fact he is with the speech, versus Arnold being huge, hulking, clearly intimidating.

That and a little tongue-in-cheek adoration, lol.

Plus you've got to remember; most people under 35 have never heard of, let alone seen 'Commando' lol. I have, but I'm not normal. :P

It's an okay movie but I too found it over-rated. You'd get more action in a 24 two-parter. It was great seeing Neeson flex his action muscles, even at his age (wonder what it would've been like if he'd replaced Dalton as 007, as offered) but those scenes were too few and far between. For a movie under 90 mins long to waste time with that sub-plot with Holly Vallance was so silly. Maybe if the next one has a bigger budget, they'll give him the proper quota of action.

I just thought it was far too stupid, contrived, and generally ridiculous to be played so very straight. I mean, she's only to friggin Paris for godsake, not downtown Baghdad. And he's saying "ooh be careful you don't get kidnapped by some gangsters," and then literally as soon as she steps off the plane she is just randomly kidnapped. Oh and her dad just happens to be some ex super secret agent or whatever.
For it all to be played so po-faced I just couldn't get into it.

Not saying I hated it, but just don't get the massive love it seems to get. I watched it once, I'd never bother watching it again

I saw this one today and thought it would fit well in this thread.
