I just want to know where the areas GEM has lived, because if her assessment of the local definition of "not beautiful" is true... The phrase "the hunting grounds are fertile" comes to mind.

She told me she used to live for a while in Knoxville, TN. Other than that, I don't have a clue.

Thank you for sharing that, Kestra.

I usually don't connote happy marriage with arranged marriage, but I only have my very western perspective on this; for which it is certainly rather true.
It's nice to see it work out so well for others. And, well, to see happiness in a marriage in general.

Yeah, it takes a certain mindset. Arranged marriage certainly wouldn't have worked for me, but I see how it has worked for so many family friends. And all arranged marriages are different, with the couple knowing each other for varying amounts of time before getting married.

My in-laws have a very good marriage as well (they're not Indian so not an arranged marriage) and we're lucky to have good examples of happy couples around us. Happy is happy, whether that's an arranged marriage, "love" marriage, or without marriage at all!

Alright, so my sister just stopped by, and I know no one specifically asked for this, but just to put this all to rest, here ya go...

I have crazy hair and a retarded expression in this one...lol

I had to take another one because I realized that I forgot to include Star Trek! *face palm*
And yes, I'm fully aware that I put The Neutral Zone even though this thread is in Misc...*shrugs* It's one of those days...(So, excuse the "horribleness" of the pictures..lol)

I think you are what is oft referred to as a cutie, and your BF needs his head examining for standing you up.

Tennessee, like Eddie said, Maine, and Georgia. Love your avatar by the way!

Ugh, the dreaded "cute" word....
Nah, I'll take it:D

Happy is happy, whether that's an arranged marriage, "love" marriage, or without marriage at all!

I like that. Unfortunately, there has been too little of that in my family lately (three divorces and counting, all within the last few years, all in families who had been together for decades).
But that just makes me glad to see it work so well for others. :)

And because picture thread: Kiel steep coast on a very beautiful summer's day.

...by THAT much. Cuz we're looking to make the move to Florida pretty soon.

But hey, Australia seems nice. And its only what? On the completely freekin opposite side of the planet? I see how ya are. I plan to move out east and all of a sudden there is going to be a mass exodus. Guess I shouldn't get my hopes up on being greated by the neighborhood Welcome Wagon when I get there. :p

Ah, sorry, Alrik! When are you moving though? I'm not leaving for another six months at least.
