In your opinion, was "The Dark Knight" fanfiction for reusing The Joker? Did it not take itself seriously?
But in what way I wonder did they mean that. The writers said they were going to stick in the Botany Bay at the end of the previous movie's credits.
...but they thought it would tie their hands too much for the sequel.
It's quite possible his "clone" was a failed experiment, left with a long life, but no other super human features. Even then, the character was not one to root for because he experimented on Spock, nearly causing his death.Since the term "Augment" hadn't been coined the the time, it wouldn't appear, But it is implied Keniclius was involved with the development of the "supermen" and may have been one.Infinite Vulcan said:COMPUTER: Working. From Earth history file. Stavos Keniclius. Earth scientist, period, Eugenics Wars.
COMPUTER: Planned to clone perfect specimen prototype into master race. Concept considered anti-humanistic. Banned from community. Disappeared. No evidence of death. No further data.
I can't find the episode to watch right now, but nowhere in the transcripts of the episode does it say that the original scientist was an Augment.
And as I said, the character experimented using Spock as a test subject and nearly costing him his life. So no, Keniclius was not a good person, nor was he benevolent in working for the greater good of the federation since he wanted his Spock clones to be a "peace keeping force."I can't find the episode to watch right now, but nowhere in the transcripts of the episode does it say that the original scientist was an Augment.
Well, wasn't the term "Augment" not coined until "Enterprise"? Someone has used the term in his Memory Beta listing:
http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Stavos_Keniclius based on a "Strange New Worlds" short story, "The Rules of War".
But I recall his Eugenics Wars link was mentioned (in the old "ST Concordance"?), and probably elaborated upon a little by Alan Dean Foster in his adaptation of "The Infinite Vulcan" for "Star Trek Log Two". His experiments are definitely augmenting himself. His fifth clone is a giant!
Now we are getting , to my mind, one of the most fantastic actors (a real actor not a personality) to play Khan and again the same angry violent reaction from a segment of fans (not here mind you but accross the various Trek boards many genuinely seemd ass sore)

A peace keeping force made up of Vulcans with super human strength, twice the intelligence, agility, all the traits of an Augment and add the ability to control minds and extract information, no matter how harmful it might be. I don't think Keniclius was misguided. So no, Keniclius was not a good person, nor was he benevolent in working for the greater good of the federation since he wanted his Spock clones to be a "peace keeping force."
Surely a "peace keeping force" suggests that his (perhaps misguided) aim was peace in the galaxy.
^ In the same way that Darth Vader wanted to restore order to the galaxy?

The idea of just kind of playing cover songs and classics again – we feel like there has to be a little of that, but there has to be a lot of original music in the set list to be worthy of your time and attention. You don’t want to see a remake, you want to see a new movie.
Lindelof said they believed key to Trek is "huge emotion" and friendship and Star Trek 2009 was really a love story between Kirk and Spock...
As stated in the title, if there was no Space Seed episode, how can they have a Khan Movie.
They could possibly use "Flashbacks" type footage, and can even slip Pike in place of Kirk. But have Khan come after the Captain of the Enterprise, and not have him realize, in his raged mind that Kirk isn't Pike.
Here is what the writers had to say about "remaking" a TOS story:http://trekmovie.com/2011/06/11/sta...date-promise-no-remake-talk-vulcan-arcs-more/Lindelof: We love Trek too, but we want to also blaze our own trail here. IF Khan IS in the movie (and that's a BIG IF), we will NOT be seeing a remake/rehash of Space Seed or TWOK. . . like someone said earlier, the Botany Bay could be blown up in the pre-credit sequence, and that would be that. . .rampant fan speculation aside, these guys want to make their own mark on Star Trek. . . personally, I'm betting that if Khan does show up in the New universe, it will be in the Ongoing Comics. . . but that's just me. . .

Yeah, don't get ahead of yourself and give slash writers reason to salivate and wet their pants. That was Pasquale's interpretation of what Lindelof said.^I like this bit:
