I really want to see some more Nebulas, some Cheyennes, New Orleanses (is that the proper word? :ouch:), etc. If the usage of all of those older models were deliberate artistic choices, then fine, keep them in, but if they were used strictly because of budgetary limitations, then the remastering team shouldn't feel obligated to keep them.

Well if that screenshot from Sins Of The Father really is completely CGI then I would strongly be in favour of this as well.

I don't want to see any CGI in TNG:HD unless it is deemed absolutely necessary, and even then it had better fit with the rest of the effects in the
show and not look CGI like the TOS:R stuff did. The bird of prey vs enterprise showdown shot looks good, but the dropping out of warp
shot looks obviously CGI. The lighting is off and it looks like they tried to mask that it's a CGI model by adding a bloom effect.

Please Drexler and co...only when necessary.

I also wanted to mention that just because a shot used in TNG has an HD transfer for a TOS film, doesn't mean they have access to that footage. Trek movies and Trek TV are now split between Paramount and CBS Television.

    Its an odd perspective though...

How do you know the BoP isn't parked just off the deflector dish alongside the Enterprise?

This small "test" footage--and kudos for the team putting out this sampler to test both reaction and technical ability--gives me hope we will see a few minor changes such as the occasional non-kitbash.

Huge improvement over the original shot.

I agree, and let's also remember most of us haven't seen these in motion. A screencap is not going to look the same as the final moving image.

I doubt there will be enough of an improvement in the remastered DVD over the original DVD to justify buying it. As others have said, do yourself a favor and buy a cheap blu ray player(assuming you have an HDTV). Keep in mind, the cost of the complete set will probably be more than the cost of a blu ray player. In fact, it wouldn't shock me if the MSRP of season 1 is more than the cost of a blu ray player.

Now that I think about it even more, even if you don't own an HDTV, you should buy a blu ray player and just have it output 480p to your tv. Why buy the discs in SD to then rebuy in HD later when you can buy the HD version now?

Well they could replace it with a new shot where that docking arm goes into the main shuttle bay. But then again, that would probably not fit with the interior scenes.

Well since there are a lot of bluray players in the $70-100 range these days, that's not too big of an assumption to make.

I'll see what it looks like on the bluray player, but generally I prefer some noise removal, the Total Recall DVD I have is a disgrace.

They originally planned it to be a Cheyenne class anyway and I've heard some of the engineering displays had schematics for that class ship, so it's not like changing that one ship would be against the director or the screenwriter's vision.

A new interview with Mike and Denise Okuda is online at startrek.com:

it features some new screenshots, including the shot of Picard looking down at the Ressikan village, filmed at Bronson Canyon. The Ressikan village was recreated to match the original in design but you can see that the buildings are different. Absolutely no big deal, though.

Watching TNG on BBC-A HD and it is almost laughable, Data's Day is so blurry its hard to believe it meets current broadcast acceptability.

That startrek.com interview also has our first glimpse at the revamped transporter effect!
