At the Prophet's Door - new DRGIII TNG novel?

I honestly, always assumed that the line was referring to the Borg encounters we saw on TNG. But thinking about it more, I don't think it would be completely unreasonable to think that it could be referring to other encounters that other ships have had with the Borg over the years.

It does seem to be implied, to have been multiple attempts, by the Borg Queen in "Dark Frontier"

"Our previous attempts to assimilate them were all direct assaults. They failed, so we've created a more surreptitious strategy."

I'm also trying to figure out what ship is coming out of the Wormhole myself. Don't look like a shufflecraft at all.

Ahh, but is it coming out or going in? It does look like the rear view of the Chaffee:

Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see some screencaps of its rear view. The second-last screencap shows it at an angle that almost matches what's on that cover image, although it doesn't have that lower pair of lights.

I see what you mean now. So I guess someone captured the shuttle and that makes sense why the Defiant is departing and the Robinson is not.

Uhh, it's probably just that the cover artist decided to stick in a ship going into the wormhole for the sake of the composition. It's probably not a specific scene from the story. (And as I said above, if it's actually supposed to be going into the wormhole, then its scale has been exaggerated hugely to make it visible.)

The registry number on the Robinson - if it's supposed to be Galaxy-class - is off. "17624"???

I like the cover, though doesn't it need a picture of Sisko? I think covers are better with a face on them.

BTW, anyone know who the Robinson is named for (and yes, I know, clearly someone named Robinson)?

Perhaps Starfleet Captain A.G. Robinson from the Enterprise episode "First Flight"? He was the first human to break the warp 2 barrier.

A cover image for Raise the Dawn which depicts a rather interesting plot development.

I'm sure I've seen that before, it looks very familiar.

For all we know this could be a new Starbase being made on the other side of the Wormhole. I don't think a shipyard would be so close to the Wormhole like that.

And I was referencing the fact that this image had been posted in another thread a few days ago. Maybe I guess I should have included a link.

Is it wise to build a large shipyard so far on the frontier? Does Bajor and Starfleet in that sector have the ability to defend it? Are the Cardassians, Dominion, and other hostiles in the sector pose much of a threat to such a facility or would they be threatened by it?

I always felt Vulcan, Andoria, and Tellar should have just as many shipyard facilities as Earth, but don't know if I'd want one at Bajor. With Andoria gone, maybe they need new facilities, but that far out? It would be interesting to know what happens to Starfleet's facilities in the Andorian system.

If it's on this side of the wormhole the Cardassians aren't our enemies anymore. If it's on the other side of the wormhole, it's possible the Dominion isn't our enemy anymore either, depending on how the cliffhanger from Olympus Descending turns out. Perhaps the Ea'voq have joined the Federation?

As I said in the other thread, I'm wondering if this is Deep Space Nine's replacement. It's what, 2384 now? The station's getting very old, and this was pointed out in-story as early as 2376. Perhaps Terok Nor has finally taken a dive into B'hava'el and this is the shiny new station that everyone will hate? :p
