I watched it. I liked it. I agreed with mostly everything, even though I liked the movie well enough. I guess the one thing that didn't bother me but seemed to bother everyone else were the aliens. Yeah, they're underexplained. So are all the supernatural objects throughout the original trilogy. BFD.
Most crucially, I think he was right about the blood and casual violence. I'm happy to see that he treated the Mutt character fairly; I felt there was way too much displaced negativity from the Transformers franchise put on Shia there. Personally, I liked the addition.
I did disagree, however, that it wasn't nice to see Marion. I'd fuck Karen Allen. And why wouldn't I?
P.S.: The Olsen joke was great.
He makes valid points. Very valid ones. But they get diluted somewhat with the "side-story" of Plinkett's proclivities. It's one of the problems I have with Linkara's "Atop the Fourth Wall", I like watching his videos and reviews of crappy comics but I find myself bored when the episodes get side-tracked and lost in Linkara's story and ongoing plot(s).
Gah. No kidding. I like Lewis Louvhaug, I really do, but I kind of wish he wasn't "the" comic book guy on TGWTG (Last Angry Geek only sort of counts, as while he's okay, he's not terribly good). Between regularly reviewing comics that are hard to give a shit about either way and his blood-curdlingly boring vignettes, I've lost a lot of love for AT4W.
The guy I'd really like to see do more video reviews of comics is Tucker Stone. He was doing a little show as part of his intermittently-published ComiXology column for a while, but quit for reasons unknown. Damned shame, as he's got screen presence to spare. And for those who like Plinkett-esque humor, he takes a somewhat similar tone on his Comics of the Weak column.
Oh well.
but I have to say I agree already that Lucas sounded like a retard talking about an Indiana Jones film being a homage to the 50's scifi films.
Lucas actually said that?
So I take it I'm the only one who thinks that sounds awesome, huh? Little green men from Mars, flying saucers, ray guns, cheesy robots, etc. Sure, it's different, but change is a good thing.
I think it sounds very cool.
But like I said, I liked the Crystal Skull we got. I'm sympathetic to the notion that it wasn't really much of an homage to the 50s alien SF serials, though. If only the movie had more labs.
No, I just described someone who doesn't have a perpetually clenched anus. All writers are "fanfic" writers to some degree.
I don't think that's how the real world works.
Don't tell Alan Moore or Geoff Johns or David S. Goyer. They'll have to give up their millions out of guilt.
