Plinkett's next review is revealed here....

I watched it. I liked it. I agreed with mostly everything, even though I liked the movie well enough. I guess the one thing that didn't bother me but seemed to bother everyone else were the aliens. Yeah, they're underexplained. So are all the supernatural objects throughout the original trilogy. BFD.

Most crucially, I think he was right about the blood and casual violence. I'm happy to see that he treated the Mutt character fairly; I felt there was way too much displaced negativity from the Transformers franchise put on Shia there. Personally, I liked the addition.

I did disagree, however, that it wasn't nice to see Marion. I'd fuck Karen Allen. And why wouldn't I?

P.S.: The Olsen joke was great.

He makes valid points. Very valid ones. But they get diluted somewhat with the "side-story" of Plinkett's proclivities. It's one of the problems I have with Linkara's "Atop the Fourth Wall", I like watching his videos and reviews of crappy comics but I find myself bored when the episodes get side-tracked and lost in Linkara's story and ongoing plot(s).

Gah. No kidding. I like Lewis Louvhaug, I really do, but I kind of wish he wasn't "the" comic book guy on TGWTG (Last Angry Geek only sort of counts, as while he's okay, he's not terribly good). Between regularly reviewing comics that are hard to give a shit about either way and his blood-curdlingly boring vignettes, I've lost a lot of love for AT4W.

The guy I'd really like to see do more video reviews of comics is Tucker Stone. He was doing a little show as part of his intermittently-published ComiXology column for a while, but quit for reasons unknown. Damned shame, as he's got screen presence to spare. And for those who like Plinkett-esque humor, he takes a somewhat similar tone on his Comics of the Weak column.

Oh well.

but I have to say I agree already that Lucas sounded like a retard talking about an Indiana Jones film being a homage to the 50's scifi films.
Lucas actually said that?

So I take it I'm the only one who thinks that sounds awesome, huh? Little green men from Mars, flying saucers, ray guns, cheesy robots, etc. Sure, it's different, but change is a good thing.

I think it sounds very cool.

But like I said, I liked the Crystal Skull we got. I'm sympathetic to the notion that it wasn't really much of an homage to the 50s alien SF serials, though. If only the movie had more labs. :(

No, I just described someone who doesn't have a perpetually clenched anus. All writers are "fanfic" writers to some degree.
I don't think that's how the real world works. :vulcan:

Don't tell Alan Moore or Geoff Johns or David S. Goyer. They'll have to give up their millions out of guilt.

Same here. I like Linkara a lot, I appreciate that Lovhaug seems to really care and get into his vignette-y stuff, but it doesn't really interest me either. I don't think I've watched AT4W in a couple months and mostly stick to the Critic, the Chick, and Todd now.

I dunno, I enjoy his videos and don't mind them terribly. I wish the comics he picked to rip on where more "main-stream" titles, but whatever. I also wish his reviews on his weekly pulls were more consistent and his reviews at times delve a bit into his political views which is a annoying. But he's not bad, but the subplot/"story line" of his show is more annoying and boring than interesting to me.

Why did they use that take?

Yeah. The only difference is in one Harrison puts the emphasis on "part" and in one on "time".

Maybe Shia tripped into a pile of manure after the good take.

oh, just like "it's the way we all FEEEEL, Mr. Spock."

emphasis on "all," Nichelle, not "feel."

Yeah, that's where a director is supposed to wake up out of their stupor and make them do it over. I'm looking at you, Filoni.

Fwiw, I think Spoony does it right (when he does it at all, the poor guy :( ). He keeps it to where it doesn't overwhelm anything. It helps that he's naturally a bit funnier of a performer.

Oh, and Todd, yeah. That dude's the shit. That guy came out of the gate back in his Youtube days at an essentially "pro" level (whatever that means in this context).

And this is really tangential, but going to Blip is probably the best thing that ever happened to SFDebris. I'm really glad he's maybe making some revenue off that. Talk about professional--again, whatever that means--he's a Swiss clock. I honestly kind of wonder why Chuck was never invited to TGWTG, especially these days, since he's started branching out into non-Trek stuff. I mean, maybe he was and he just didn't want to turn a hobby into a job. Or he thinks Bum Reviews are stupid (and he'd be right). It's just strange that they did pick up this "Sci Fi Guy" fellow whom I doubt anyone had ever heard of and who is not nearly as prolific (or, honestly, as funny or interesting, though one supposes he's alright).

Maybe I'm vastly underestimating the TGWTG audience numbers and he just doesn't make the cut with his ~10,000-strong viewership. I mean, how big is, say, Spoony's audience? 50,000? 100,000? Surely not a million?

It looks like misinterpretation of my words in this thread might reach over9000 by the end of the week...
