Peter Weller’s reps confirm he’s joining the cast of JJ Abrams’ Star Trek sequel, in what is a principal role but one they would not specify. Weller, best known in feature scifi circles for his iconic role as Robocop has been busy as a director, and for acting stints on 24, Dexter, Fringe and Psych. Paramount will release the Star Trek sequel May 17, 2013. Alice Eve and Benicio Del Toro are likely to take part, joining the returning original cast that is headed by Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. Who should Weller play? Paramount and Abrams spent the weekend knocking down a speculative report Del Toro would play the Kahn role that Ricardo Montalban played in the original Star Trek series and the 1982 feature film. Weller’s repped by APA and BMP.
Weller would make an awesome Gary Seven. He'd be more bad ass than the familiar version of course.
Though rumor has it that Weller is playing a CEO that may not be the case. Bad Robot is known for giving it's actors fake script pages to ensure secrecy. On Lost when they cast the roles of Jacob and the Man in Black they were identified as corporate big wigs instead of the ancient supernatural characters they turned out to be on the show.
And we know this how?He ain't playing Paxton.
CEO might also - call me crazy, I dunno - imply that the character is the chief executive officer of some sort of corporation.
Tell me all the reasons that there's no such creature in the Star Trek universe, but I'm going to go meditate for a while anyway.

It could also mean that Weller's playing the Klingon in charge of Rura Penthe, since the prisoner's mine dilithium there. I imagine they are doing it for somebody's profit. I guess one could call the position CEO, Mining Operations at Rura Penthe. I call it head honcho, in charge, making life miserable.CEO might also - call me crazy, I dunno - imply that the character is the chief executive officer of some sort of corporation.
Heh. Fixed.Good old Star Strek!
Heh, yes I noticed the typo immediatly after I posted. But it was to late to change it. At least it's an aliteration now.Good old Star Strek!
