I was a little disappointed in the brief glance we got of Stannis, he doesn't look hard enough. But then again it's just a glance.

I'm guessing that woman is Margaery Tyrell?

Yeah, that's Margaery. She's being played by Natalie Dormer. I find the casting interesting because Margaery was in her, what, mid-to-late teens in the books? Whereas Dormer is almost thirty.

EDIT: Oh wait, is that her behind Renly? Geez, I'm amazed people could even catch that, much less make it out as Brienne.

Well, Stannis looks just about nothing like my mental image of him. I imagined him a much more imposing figure. Davos, though, looks like he just about leaped off the page.

Margarey doesn't really resemble the book character in any way I pictured while reading the books. I can undestand upping her age... But they did that with Dany and it didn't destroy the character. Natalie Dormer is too old to play Margarey especially when you consider future implications for the character. They could have found a 18-22 year old actress you could play 16ish-18ish.

And I guess I just don't see Natalie Dormer as beautiful as Margarey is pretty much regarded in the books.

Yup. She just doesn't look the part. I also doubt I will be able to get her role in The Tudors out of my mind when I see her in this.

But hey, maybe she works for how they have redone her role. (which appears to be larger than written in season 2) We'll have to wait and see. Otherwise things look great.

What I'm more curious about than the casting is how exactly they plan on tackling the more

fanciful aspects of the series. Will they show the mammoths and giants and the like? Will they show Melisandre giving birth to an evil baby demon thing?

Exactly.. Many people were not pleased with the casting of Mark Addy as Baratheon or the actress that played cersei or Cat.

But in the end they made the roles their own.
