Anyone remember this rumor: http://trekmovie.com/2010/10/25/rumor-no-khan-for-star-trek-sequel-but-known-tos-villain/ ?
If there was actually any bit of truth to it, most of these could be ruled out.
Obviously he's not Horta. He doesn't have the right build for a Talosian.
He could be Mudd, but I think that's stretching it. His typical roles don't really line up with that character. Trelane is kind of the same way.
Mitchell is probably the most likely of that group, but even still that doesn't seem appropriate.
So I guess that rumor is likely busted, Faraci?
I believe that same "informant close to the production" told AICN how he saw footage of Trek 2009.
Two words... Harry Mudd
Devin Faraci may not be the most reliable of sources. I think I'd treat anything coming from that quarter with a certain degree of skepticism.Anyone remember this rumor: http://trekmovie.com/2010/10/25/rumor-no-khan-for-star-trek-sequel-but-known-tos-villain/ ?

would Del Toro agree to use a Klingon mask and spend hours and hours in a makeup chair?
I'd rather he played Javier Bardem.Benecio Del Toro should just play himself... the dude is scary enough!

Abrams had no hesitation in throwing out the Romulan ridges, I can see his Klingons being closer to TOS looks, or better yet a mix of ridged and non-ridged (get some Ford style Klingons going on, multiple races comprising an empire kind of thing.)
...but apparently the film studio wants it kept so top secret that he hasn’t even been told what the role will be...
According to Variety, Benicio Del Toro is director J.J. Abrams’ top choice to play his next Star Trek villain, whoever that might be. Even Del Toro apparently doesn’t know, as Abrams’ paranoid secrecy has reportedly led to him meeting with the actor about taking on the role but never explaining fully who it is—which must have been sort of daunting for Del Toro. After all, that’s how you find yourself in a giant space sombrero playing The Andromeda Bandito, the rootinest, tootinest outlaw this side of the universe. Still, assuming J.J. Abrams isn’t crazy, Del Toro’s role probably won’t be that.

Yes! NuKahn! I can't wait! Or a klingon, but I really prefer nuKahn as the next villain.
Abrams would not kill Kor or Koloth. They are classic characters.
It's Abrams' movie and he can do whatever he wants with them. Even if these characters were in ST XII and were killed it's an alternate universe and has no affect on prime Kol or prime Koloth.
The problem with reprising Khan is everything about what made him such a great villain in TWOK hinged on events that do not apply at all in the JJ-Verse. There was a past between Kirk and Khan that mattered.
