Benicio Del Toro to be the villain in the Star Trek sequel?

Star Trek is an international phenomenon. I don't think "domestic" or "overseas" differs that much.

Unlike a lot of other top box office hits, ST09 made half as much overseas as it did domestically. Typically a hit will make a similar amount or more. This would have given ST09 a half million dollar take at the BO.

Part of me wants them to tease that Del Toro would be playing a prominent villain from the original series, one who squared off directly against Kirk and Spock... only to reveal its Garth of Izar.

He'll reprise Dr. Gonzo transported to the 23rd century during a really bad acid trip. The title of the film will be "Star Trek: Fear and Loathing on Alpha Centauri".

Dont forgot we are talking about abrams version of trek,a alternative version,so if del torro plays kor, they can kill the bad guy off in their version.

If Del Toro play Kor, I do not think he will die. Kor is a strong character, a commander of the Klingon Empire. He is strategic, smart, sophisticated, though he is cold and able to use brutal methods to get what he wants.

Anyone remember this rumor: http://trekmovie.com/2010/10/25/rumor-no-khan-for-star-trek-sequel-but-known-tos-villain/ ?

If there was actually any bit of truth to it, most of these could be ruled out.

Obviously he's not Horta. He doesn't have the right build for a Talosian.

He could be Mudd, but I think that's stretching it. His typical roles don't really line up with that character. Trelane is kind of the same way.

Mitchell is probably the most likely of that group, but even still that doesn't seem appropriate.

So I guess that rumor is likely busted, Faraci?
