Bats in Space

I'm curious about this, there's no sound in space right? So presumably their sonar wouldn't work, so would they just basically fly around bashing into things having no idea where they're going?
It wouldn't be able to fly without air to push against to gain lift. But it would freeze or suffocate before that became an issue.

As I said above, things don't "freeze" in space. It'd suffocate long, long, long before it froze. Again, vacuums are great insulators.

Yeah, I'm trying to understand why the OP thinks flight requires gravity but not air.

It's not that simple. Everything that flies on Earth depends on gravity too. It can fly without it wonderfully, but the landing is a problem. Projectiles and missiles fired at anything beyond the horizon also need gravity, not air.

1) the important part of the sentence is "but not air". The need for gravity is not in dispute.
2) for true "flight" both gravity and atmosphere are needed. landing will take care of itself.
3)projectiles and missiles do not "fly" in the mechanical sense. They do not rely on surfaces to provide lift.

So truly, your entire post - non sequitur.

Yeah, projectiles follow ballistic trajectories that are influenced by forces due to gravity and viscosity. Missile also have a propulsive force due to their source of thrust such as a rocket engine, ramjet, or similar. Both projectiles and missiles might have aerodynamic surfaces to alter trajectory, but apart from cruise missiles, such surfaces are not usually used to provide lift. Neither projectiles nor missiles fly like bats.

That could work, but I don't think it would be able to steer without navigational thrusters.

Nah, can't do that, the intense forces at the edges of the warp field will cause the exterior of the bat to collapse. You don't want any naked bats running around, do you?

What if his wings are like a shield of steel?
