Will Start Shooting in January

It amazes me how pessimistic ST fans are, even with so little provocation...sure it's been delayed but I never had a doubt it wouldn't be made. On some sites, it seemed as if 80% of fans thought it was cancelled! Just think of it, most production design is probably now done, locations have been found, and it'll start shooting in 2 months..

It's this "everything that can go wrong, will go wrong" mentality that I love so much.

I prefer a "stuff will work out fine, you'll see, just chill" kind of mindset, myself.

How about

"Star Trek: It sure took us long enough?"

I mean, this was just ridiculous. A three and a half-year at minimum gap after a hugely successful start to a re-booted franchise is just ridiculous. It'll more likely be four.

Pathetic

Trek 09's success pales to insignificance compared to Avatar and there are no firm plans to start a sequel to that. I think the wait is all part of the show.

er, "Avatar" isn't a part of a franchise that has been around for over forty years, and I don't think it was released with sequels in mind so I don't get the comparison.

I think the comparsion is hugely successful (Avatar moreso unfortunately), sci-fi movies that came out in 2009. But Avatar wasn't written with a sequel in mind but Star Trek was since all the principals signed on for at least a 3 picture deal.

I agree with you, it's the oddest mentality.

It's really too late to complain now. It's not changing anything. It begins filming in January. Everyone is aware the first film came out two and a half years ago. No big deal.

That's what they'll call it.

St- ***%##*#*##%*** -ion

Fan debate over what it the film was really called will go on for decades.

it's never too late to complaining, it can be therapeutic. If you can't complain on a star trek message board, where can you?

But seriously, longer gaps between the movies simply means less movies in the end, which is disappointing. Yes I'd rather get higher-quality movies less often than rushed, crappier ones more often, but this delay had nothing to do with writing or making a better movie, so it's not an either/or.

My, that horse is awfully high. Is it safe up there?
Are you sure you clicked the right button? Raytas is one of the more relaxed people around here and not much given to getting up on high horses. I'm just not seeing anything especially high-horsey about the post you've quoted.

Hrmph, grumble, grumble, lens flares, moan, whine, canon is gone, blechh, hrmph.

I wonder how much lens flare THIS film will have. J.J. will have to work extra hard to top himself.
We'll be able to see ST (lens flare) EK in the opening credits and that'll be about it. The rest of the film will be 99.9994% lens flare.
