Your latest purchases, cont.

I just ordered a subscription to my hometown's new magazine; I also spent some money on a few used CDs and vinyl records at Amoeba last night that I'd been eyeing.

Man City scarf for eight quid.

BTW, it's sad to confess this, but it wasn't from the file name that I knew the maker...

I thought you google image searched the photo, I'm sorry I discounted your encyclopedic knowledge of shoes and the ability to pick out a maker and line just by one picture of a shoe in 3/4 profile. You are truly amazing. :bolian:

I just won an auction for a new pair of PJs. I think the seller has mislabelled them in the auction as being from the maker's diffusion line, rather than the main line that the tags in the photos show, so I figure I've got them for about a third of retail, and probably about half of what they'd otherwise go for on eBay. Even if they're from the diffusion line, I only paid a few quid over standard eBay market value for them, so I'm happy anyway.

Always nice to get an unexpected bargain.

Well, to be honest it wasn't quite that amazing... I remember you mentioned liking J&M at some point in the past, and every shoe maker tends to photograph their shoes from a very slightly different angle for their catalogues, so if you're seen them at some point, that creates a visual memory associated with the maker. From there, it wasn't difficult to put 2+2 together.

So yeah, call it shoe logic rather than shoe idiot savantism...

Bought a few books at the library sale today, and picked up a cute, square glass pendant necklace at the neighborhood arts & crafts sale.

Hubby picked up some spices and a box of cinnamon muffin mix.

--Cup of coffee while at a business meeting at Sony
--Parking
--Cup of coffee while waiting for a friend at the mall
--Khakis, jeans, long-sleeve tees, and a belt
--Another cup of coffee
--Alfred Hitchcock's Lifeboat on DVD and the 2 Cellos album.

So you're saying I'm predictable, then?

Picked this up yesterday. A mom of one of the boys on my oldest son's football team does kiln fired glass art. The colors change depending on how it catches the light.

I had a 10 dollars coupon for Kohl's, so I picked up some pjs and some fuzzy socks; with the coupon, it came to about 25 bucks.

I received a kakapo toy in the post today. This is what he looks like.

I have named him Rangi after a kakapo who was discovered on Codfish Island (New Zealand) but later hid from rangers for 21 years before being rediscovered in 2009.

I'll be adding the Wusthof 8" Classic Series Bread Knife

to my block when it arrives on Wednesday. It was in my cart as a "must have" and when I saw the $40 price drop yesterday I just snagged it fast :)

Just some light grocery shopping today.

I note in passing that the supermarkets in the UK are currently having fun with a price war. Local example: a nearby Sainsburys is temporarily closed for a few days while a big refurb completes. In the meantime, the local Tesco sends out multiple "£5 off a £20 shop" coupons, dated for one of each of the next 4 weeks, in order to make the most of the shutdown and to prevent any defectors to the new bigger Sainsburys. Plus, the Tescos just put up a big clubcard sign-up stand to lure any shoppers forced to go to Tescos who would normally go the temporarily closed Sainsbury. All good fun to see a bit of lively competition!

That's quite the cool - and expensive - collection you're building up!

Here's a question I've often wondered about in those dark moments in the middle of the night: how do you hone a serrated knife with a steel? Is it even possible?

I always hone my regular knives before use, but I can't say I've ever tried it on a serrated knife. It seems like it would actually dull the edge. My bread knife isn't dull yet, but I wonder what I'll do when it does lose its edge...

V season 2
Clone Wars season 3
Batman Year one 2 disk

I don't have them yet, but I expect them on Friday.

Just pre-ordered Mass Effect 3. I don't often preorder games, but this one was always going to be a certainty.

^ I should be doing that too.

In the meantime I got me an Abercrombie & Fitch winter jacket, a Dix Range that I had wanted for quite some time, but it was always sold out whenever I went to buy it.
Love it. So warm and light. :D
