I know that the scene where everyone stood up and cheered on opening night of Star Wars in DC was the jump to light speed.
Just makes me wonder, is that their galaxy (as in, where Tatooine, Bespin, Corellia etc. are at) or is that another galaxy that just happens to be that close to their own? Heh..guess I shouldn't think about it too much.
However, Leland Chee confirmed on the StarWars.com Message Boards that the object seen in Episode V is the Star Wars galaxy,[1]
Yes I like that one too, and the galaxy vista they are gazing at is pretty cool too. Hence the phrase "could be" because even with the loose physics of Star Wars, I can't buy that it's actually GFFA regardless of what some behind the scenes snot might say
If you're hearing from "behind the scenes snots", why not focus on ones that actually might have had something to do with the production of the films?wiki link said:The Episode II DVD-ROM Exclusive Content states that "the cluster known as the Rishi Maze may be the bright object that Luke and Leia stare at at the end of ''Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back".
The asteroid chase in Empire Strikes Back.

I always thought it was their own.
Which means ships in the SW universe are ridiculously fast!
When Han is frozen, Leia & Chewy cry out in anguish, and the screen is filled in steam. The steam clears to reveal Vader's helmet. An awesome little moment.
That "galaxy" is visibly rotating. From what we see onscreen, how long would it take to complete one revolution? A hour? A day? We'll say a day.
I'm still preferential to the battle scenes over Endor. It was the first large scale space combat fleet action seen on film.
