Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

He looks a bit like a Curt Swan Superman in this one.
Actually if anything he looks the spitting image of Christopher Reeve to me, and by extension the image of Superman as depicted by all the Superman artists inspired by Reeve's such as John Byrne. I don't see much of Curt Swan's Superman in him. And by the way, I know he's riding a bike but shouldn't he be wearing glasses, or are these shots of rehearsals?

John Byrne's Superman looked as much like any good looking, dark-haired dude as he did Chrisopher Reeve. Same goes for Cavill.

Reeve had a very angular face. Swan's Superman and Cavill have more rounded features.

Didn't Curt eventually modify his Superman to look less square-jawed and more detailed in the 1970s? Then again, could be due to a different inker I suppose.

Yes, Murphy Anderson's inks did add a bit to the look of Swan's Superman.

Zack looking an awfully like Mark Ruffalo these days. Thats awesome though JA! Too bad you couldn't get that close to Nolan.

We all know he's got a 100 ft restraining order from Nolan.

For real? Or are you guess just giving him a hard time?

Nah, not for real. It's just a running joke with JacksonArcher. :) (Have you read the "The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station" thread? Hilarity ensues...)

^ The restraining order joke goes much further back than that...we first brought it up during "The Dark Knight" production :) Tee hee.

Love the idea of Zod wearing a black version of Superman's outfit. Makes it seem like more of a standard Kryptonian uniform.

Be curious to see what the shield looks like...

Yeah I think I'd rather just have a strange kryptonian symbol on there. A "Z" for Zod just seems like it would be a little too silly, for some reason.

This was Zod's symbol when he was introduced in Superman: Last Son. I suspect they will do something different. "Smallville" had a Krypontian "Z" symbol for his crest.

I like the sunburst the best.

I like to think the House of Zod got locked in early and got one of the most basic and (cross-culturally) iconic ones, while El was a little later and had to use a spiffied up version of their name. I mean, if they were handing out symbols to a million families at the dawn of their civilization, only the very coolest is going to get to use the freakin' sun that they worship.

I also find it interesting that the sunburst is yellow and not red.

I've been stalking- erm, uhh, "following" - these Batman movies and Christopher Nolan ever since Batman Begins. I met Gary Oldman back in 2004 when they were filming the movie in Chicago.

^ I remember that photo. That's the photo that triggered the restraining order jokes. I'd forgotten though that it went back to Begins lol.

"Early"? it was the start of his career wasn't it? It's been a while since I've seen that film but it's an origin story isn't it?

we see his first appearance as Batman, his motivation and also he gets revenge on the man who killed his parents. it's a classic origins story.
Compare and contrast to Batman Begins, which spends a lot of time showing us how he went from his parents getting killed to dressing up as a gadget-laden bat and fighting crime. B89 brought us in with Batman's career in progress and only related the death of his parents in a brief flashback well into the movie. It didn't even show us why he chose specifically to dress as a bat (a common feature of even one-page comic retellings of his origin)...they didn't get around to that for two more movies.

It was a Joker origin movie, but not a Batman one.
