Why did the father let a strange man claiming to be a social services worker for his son into his flat in the middle of the night? Social workers work during the day don't they?
Shouldn't that have sent up red flags to the father not to let this man into the house? He could have been a robber or something worse.Well, them kind the Doctor was supposed to be wouldn't show up at night, but there are social services workers who will come anytime, mostly if the child is endangered and most times results in a removal.
Why didn't he call his wife to make sure she had actually sent for one? He seemed to imply she was going to but hadn't done it yet.Plus, he thought his wife called for him.

The resolution was especially odd when the Doctor mentions his fear of rejection Dad responds by "How can we keep him? He' not even human.". Apparently, after saying this, he can just smash through the dolls and go and hug his son.
I think that's kind of meant to be foreshadowing of Melody, since this was originally supposed to be episode 3 but got swapped with the pirates. (which makes you wonder who'd have had the cameo in AGMGTW in place of Avery).
And no, they're not looking for Melody now, since they found her last week...
Even with the psychic paper the way he was acting and the time of night would have sent up red flags to a parent not to let this man in.Psychic Paper

Say what you like about Victory of the Daleks, it at least flew along, this just kinda meandered around. Like someone said 20 minutes of plot stretched out.
Also: as a side note, it felt odd, given the mid-season break, and last weeks episode--there's a Baby Pond out there, shouldn't they be worried about her? Wasn't this one supposed to be in the earlier block of episodes?
Well they can't find baby Pond because to do so would screw up the timeline I guess.

Baby Pond is kind of out of their hands at the moment.
Actually, given that Rory and Amy raised her (kind of) and that they seem to have undone or at least mitigated her manchurian candidate programming, I think we can straight-up say "mission accomplished" there.
