My biggest issue with this episode is that once again the Doctor shunts Amy and Rory to the side. This week he had no real reason to tell them to search other floors after he'd spotted the scared kid, other than maybe he likes doing this sort of thing sans Amy and Rory. In that case, why bring them anywhere?

It would be nice if for once Amy or Rory were the ones to solve the problem - that hasn't happened all that much this season.

Given the "in the flesh" line this is probably a side effect of the episode having been swapped with the pirates - at this point he would have known Amy was a Flesh copy...

This episode was alright. The dummies were a little creepy, I guess. I dunno, I'm pretty meh about this episode. I'm looking forward to next week's episode!

I couldn't work out why the parents had apparently given George a dollhouse. Were they trying to make him gay or merely metrosexual?

Is that how it works?

Oh, my guess is that it's nature rather than nurture in such matters. But he still might have a tendency toward hairdressing as a future career rather than train driver.

I assume that the part was originally written for a girl, but was changed to avoid similarities to "Fear Her". Perhaps it was an oversight during reworking. I guess Lonemagpie's reasoning that it was a hand-me-down from the mother might work -- however, I would have been mortified to have been given a girl's toy for fear of ridicule from my peers. However, if you're as poor as George's parents appear to be, I guess you take anything you're given and are grateful.

I saw it at Dragon*Con with several hundred other fans and loved it! I'm hoping it will be as good when I rewatch it at home.

Remember that frustrating feeling you got when they'd throw in a Ferengi ep during the Dominion War? You'd grab the sides of your chair, rock back and forth, and keep repeating "lets get back to the story already!"

Well, I felt like that again Saturday.

... and then the following week, you'd get a "let's torture the O'Brians" episode ...

... followed the next week by a pointless Trill whodunnit ...

Perversely perhaps, but the Ferengi episodes were about the only ones I consistently enjoyed from DS9. To come back to the Doctor, I enjoyed the episode. It would have been a welcome break from the arc material if we hadn't just come from the mid-season hiatus. Here it just felt like the new season came to a dead stop right out of the gate. All in a a fun episode but I will be happy moving on and not revisiting any of it's material.

I appreciate that the show gave us a standalone horror episode.

Would have been better had there been the slightest bit of tension, though.

The idea of a standalone horror episode is awesome. But, we didn't get a complete one. The ending was poor.

How is this episode any different than "Fear Her"?
"Fear Her" is about abusive parents and "Night Terrors" is about the fear of abandonment? "Fear Her" is a classic melodrama told through metaphors while "Night Terrors" is a haunted house story? "Fear Her" has the Doctor and his companion very much in love while in "Night Terrors", the Doctor barely ever shares the screen with his companions?

Fear Her, the child is revealed to bad from the beginning, Night Terrors hides this for a decently effective twist.

Cant think of anything I really liked... or disliked.

As with most of series six, Ive found the concepts interesting enough, but very poorly told. Lots and lots of things happen, then we find out whats going on and theres a convenient ending.

Also, wish we could have a 'lighter' episode. People killing their doubles, the doctor is a 'warrior', people made from bits of other people, scary dolls, even Black Spot was pretty dark...

Id just like a fun episode again.

Pretty average, but very enjoyable... I think, after all the "big-picture, tent-pole" episodes of late, a stand-alone, more kid friendly episode left us all a bit flat..

That said, it was a very cool concept.
