Superhero costumes...

I like how the replica Spider-Man outfit from the Raimi films is more believable and 'realistic' than anything we've seen on film so far.

Truth.

Personally, like I said, I'm really getting kinda disgusted with Hollywood's fetish for "darkening" superhero costumes... it's enough to make me almost wish we never get a film version of Shazam or the Flash, or any brightly-colored hero... I just don't trust Hollywood's costume people to just leave well enough alone.

Ta da!!!

We already got the Flash in a Burtonesque muscle suit in '90.

(Story explanation: It was a diving suit. Yeah, that's what I'd wear if I could run at fantastic speeds...a diving suit....)

I'd wear a suit made out of manifested Speed Force. It's a little more expensive, but it's worth it.

Flash's coloring has gone from a "standard" red to a dark red time and again in the comics. If a movie version gave us a darker red, it'd still be in line with the comics.

In fairness, they explained that it was really the only thing that could withstand the speeds he was running at. His other clothes got shredded when he zoomed around (at least in the pilot).

Saw this and thought... Wow!

I wondered who it was and found out it was Ellen Page. It's a pic from Super. I heard about the movie, but didn't know much about it and now it's finally out on DVD. I think these amateur costumes work pretty well in movies like this and Kick-Ass where amateurs decide to become superheroes.

^ That's because those are comedy's intentionally poking fun at the (many) silly elements of superheroes. Having a brightly colored costume that looks like it was lifted from the page of a comic dovetails into that comedic feel.
