Star Trek/Legion of Super-Heroes coming!

thanks can't wait I have all the legion archives big fan. who will be the prime publisher in this IDW or DC?

The cover mockup I saw had IDW and DC stamps on the cover but, just from the appearance, I would say it looks like IDW. I can't confirm that though.

Nope, I was wrong. I can confirm. The article says that IDW will be publishing it.

cool thanks for that. That means the collected edition will be awesome. all so I would to see space marines crossover with the federation and see how they would react to spock.

So, in an early episode of Enterprise, they mentioned the comic book character of Superman. So how can a Starfleet crew meet a team that has a member who they know to be a fictional character (in the Trek reality)? Dimensional wibbly wobbly stuff, I suppose?
Of course crossover stories like this aren't meant to be actual in-continuity tales. They're what are known in comics parlance as "imaginary stories" -- tales that aren't meant to be "real" within the series continuity but allow the exploration of possibilities that couldn't fit in the series' "reality."
That's not always true. For instance, JLA/Avengers is canonical within the pre-DCnU DC universe as sequel storylines about the Cosmic Egg created in JLA/A were told in both JLA and Trinity. X-Men/New Teen Titans was canonical within the pre-Crisis DC Universe as it was explicitly referenced in "The Judas Contract" storyline. The Savage Dragon/Hellboy crossover is canonical within Erik Larsen's universe. So there are crossover stories that count. :)

That said... Do I expect this story, Trek/Legion to ever be referenced anywhere? No, not one bit. It's set in a version of the DCU that doesn't even exist anymore, and IDW's Star Trek comics are generally disconnected from one another, so there's no cause for this to have lasting effects on the DC or the Star Trek universes. That's not a reason not to read the story, though; speaking only for myself, this is the kind of thing I've wanted to read for over twenty years, and so long as it's entertaining and fun, it'll be worth it. And with the creators behind it, I know it's going to be great. :)

I am looking forward to this, these crossovers are always fun. Also, I am just glad to have more trek comics after 6 months + without anything!

The Great Darkness Saga itself just came out in a nice jumbo hardcover... though it's probably a bit much if you just want to sample the Legion before reading the comic.

I think Batman would do well in the Trek Universe. I think Batman would have a woody for all the new technology available.

Interesting. I remember the X-Men/Star Trek crossovers and being disappointed with those. We'll see how these ones go.

two things first I would love to see dan abnett write this and hopefully there will be a sequal to this.

From left to right...

Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy, Chameleon Boy, Shadow Lass.

At this point in Legion continuity, which appears to be pre-Crisis, they are...

Lightning Lad is believed by everyone at this time to be Garth Ranzz from the planet Winath, but he's actually a shapeshifter named Proty. (In his natural form, he looks like a Founder.) He has electrical powers.

Saturn Girl (Imra Ardeen) is from Saturn's moon Titan, and she's a telepath. Garth and Imra are married at this point in time, and they will have three children.

Cosmic Boy (Rokk Krinn) is from Braal, where he was a champion magnaball player. He has magnetic powers. (I've mused in the past on who would win in a fight -- Magneto or Rokk. I think Rokk is more powerful, but Magneto would play dirty.) He later loses his powers, then becomes the Time Trapper, one of the Legion's greatest villains, in a timey-wimey kind of way.

Chameleon Boy is a Durlan named Reep Daggle. He's a shapeshifter.

Shadow Lass is Tasmia Mallor from the planet Talok. She can project darkness and extinguish light. In my favorite period of Legion history, she's married to Mon-El (Lar Gand from the planet Daxam), who has all of Superman's powers, but instead of a kryptonite vulnerability he's vulnerable to lead.

Can there be a more lame group of superheroes? I doubt it. They even out lame thew Wonder Twins,
Have you ever even READ a Legion comic? Seriously, have you?

Even at it's most mediocre, the Legion is better than 75% of comics out there.

That's a bit strong, isn't it? I like LoSH too, but it can be pretty bad at its worst. Maybe not Countdown-level or anything, but pretty bad.

I gather, just from what I've read on comics sites, that Legion is kind of a love-it-or-hate-it kind of thing. It has a passionate fan following, but there are a lot of people who just don't get it. I think I'm in the latter category. At least, I found the TV series rather boring, though of course that's no reflection on the original. I did kinda like the Smallville episode featuring the Legion, though mainly because they cast a really hot Saturn Girl.

I actually found her pretty unattractive. Maybe it was just her mouth.

It was the Dan Abnett/Andy Lanning stuff which got me hooked on the Legion. This was during the reboot era. (Preboot meaning before the reboot). This was during the era when many of the ultra lame names of the silver age had been abandoned. (Lightning Lad was Live Wire, Chameleon Boy was Chameleon, Phantom Girl was Apparition, etc.). Can't say I didn't agree with some of those changes.
