THE HOBBIT (2012/2013): News, Rumors, Pics Till Release

Still don't understand why it's two movies. Okay I know it's to make more money but artistically it's not a good idea. After all the time wasted in the LoTR trilogy with lingering close-ups and soaring music, I have a bad feeling about this.

You answered your own question. Two movies doubles the revenues while the costs are only marginally higher. Voila, two films.

That time was surely not wasted! More, please! :techman:

Zahadum is more like the thing.

Got a shirt that says that, too.

Any word yet on whether Howard Shore will be returning to score the movie(s)? It would surely be a crime if he wasn't able to do it.

For some reason that's not accessible. You have to go in through the main link to the site. (Huh.... now I can get to it directly...)

However, the sword from fan made version on TORN didn't so much cover another dwarf's face as it cut across his neck.

You can see if it's cached, so either go to the main site or refresh.

100% for certain. He told me so. (No, really, I asked him last October and he said he was already working on ideas.) I simply cannot wait to hear what he comes up with, either.

Indeed. No Howard Shore would be akin to Gandalf being played someone other than Ian McKellen, IMO.

Indeed. I am looking forward to hearing the Shire theme in full force to start off the movie. I can't wait to hear what themes he comes up with for the Dwarves.

It's been awhile since we've had an update, but here's a brief interview Benedict Cumberbatch talking about Smaug (and the Necromancer) on The Jonathan Ross Show: Link.

I'm excited to hear that the performance will be motion captured a la Gollum.
