Then why are you defending the people who fought and died to keep them as property?

My ancestors fought against federal tyranny and unfair trade tariffs.
Your ancestors fought to fucking OWN SLAVES! Open your damn eyes against the sick indoctrination of the losers.

Geez...:ack:

Slavery was a side issue that would of been settled in 50 years max, in the changing times threats of international sanctions along with the growing power of the industrial movement would of ended slavery regardless, without the unwarranted loss of life caused by the WoNA...

I think all Americans should have to wait until they're 50 before they're allowed to exercise their constitutional rights. I'm sure you agree.

The republicans would like that, would keep all those young latinos from voting...

So then you agree with the Republicans.

No, really stop assuming stuff, unless I say I support something directly stop saying I do...I support neither party, I support the destruction of our current political process...

This means you feel the war was an unwarranted one. The constitutional rights of the slaves weren't important enough. So you would have no real problem with Americans not getting to exercise their rights for the first 50 years of their lives. I stated as much and you replied:

The republicans would like that, would keep all those young latinos from voting...

Which means that your goals and the Republican goals are the same, since you seem to be in agreement that this course of action is what they would take, and how you feel the expression of one's constitutional rights should develop.

You then replied:

You see, I'm not assuming. It is very clear from your posts that you find slaves to be lesser persons who don't need to exercise their constitutional rights. That's not an assumption. You agree with the idea that 50 years of waiting would have let slaves exercise their constitutional rights, so you feel 50 years without rights is perfectly acceptable.

Do you disagree that 50 years without rights is perfectly acceptable?

I was making a simple political joke about republican fears of the dream act to their voting base, not a racist comment as you seemed to think it was, and second, blacks after the civil war were far from free, remember Jim Crow and segregation...you cannot force equality on a culture not ready for it...it will simply not work...

It's not preferential, but life is not always acceptable, sometimes times must change slowly, with patience not always with blood and violence...and legally at that time the slaves did not have constitutional rights anyway...

This thread has gone completely apeshit off topic... Can a mod PLEASE close it down?

Why, does the alterations confound your senses Herbert...kudos if you can figure out what I mean by that...

Not at all. I'm just fucking irritated that a thread that was started lamenting the sad state of affairs where little kids running lemonade stands were getting hassled has turned in to this clusterfuck of a discussion.

Frankly, I'm amazed the thread has lasted as long as it has.

Then you agree that waiting 50 years for free speech, or for the right to bear arms, is acceptable. You would never find it unacceptable that your rights are being hindered or eroded, then, if you felt that way. Correct?

Incorrect bc those rights already existed, at the time of civil war those rights did not exist for the slaves, so they had no reason to assume they would ever have them legally...

So the slaves were less than human, and should not have expected to ever have constitutional rights. Therefore, you are fine with the idea of them continuing to be treated as subhumans who lacked basic constitutional rights for the next 50 years. That's almost two generations under the lash. You find that acceptable.

^Doesn't make it okay

Neither are the mass pits of dead civilians ok in war torn countries all over the world, neither are the children pimped out to old men in sex tourism...do you support 1,000s of men and women dieing in order to stop it however...change is always paid in blood...

No not acceptable, but not worth the death of 1,000s of men, the destruction of countless homes, families and attempt to destroy the culture of a people...

I can't see this turning anywhere but south, so I'm going to do as the OP has requested an shut it down.
