Star Wars:The Clone Wars S3......so far

They've not changed assumptions about Ahsoka. Filoni has been vehement during the entire series that she's supposed to be our guide through it. He also refuses to answer what her fate is. I think back to Seth Green high fiving a little kid at last year's Celebration V for asking that very question to Filoni and Dave responding with putting his famous cowboy hot over his face and looking bashful! The response was actually due to what the kid actually said after he asked the question about Ahsoka.

My guess is that she is going to die in the finale or sometime in the final season. I'd like to see her live personally but it's understandable if she does die somehow. Either at her master's hand...errrrr lightsaber or other means.

I mean assumptions about Anakin's fall. They've introduced elements that weren't hinted at in ROTS that are obvious foreshadowing for something. Why would they go to all that effort otherwise?

They'll probably want to keep Ahsoka around, now that she's proven to be a popular and merchandisable character. There's nothing in ROTS that rules out her survival. In fact, some big event involving her (banishment from the Jedi Order? fall to the Dark Side? apparent "death"?) just previous to ROTS can be very useful in helping to establish the proper motivation for Anakin's fall that was originally missing. That, combined with the other elements they're carefully setting up, should be more than enough to be convincing.

I've suggested that she somehow gets lost or separated from Anakin during the Outer Rim battles near the end of the Clone Wars. I suspect that her fate is something we're not going to be able to predict. Yeah that is what I meant earlier about Anakin being so different in the series than he was in the prequels.

The SDCC Clone Wars panel for season four has been announced. It's Thursday afternoon from 4:45 to 5:45 and will include Dave Filoni and CG/FX lighting supervisor Joel Aaron.

Cool, if anyone is going, give us a report! :D

My "official" guess as to Ahsoka's fate: She dies ambiguously, in a way that allows Anakin to completely blame himself, and also in a way that doesn't preclude her survival. ;)

The Force.net will have coverage as will Newsarama which had live blogging. I started a thread last year I think but it kind got hijacked.

It starts with a P and means "lotus flower".

Keyword there: "proper." Meaning, "not stupid/laughable/asinine."

I'll admit that his motivation in the PT was logical. It make sense that a dopey, stupid brat whose farcical marriage was based on immaturity and insecurity - which is how the PT portrayed the character and the situation - would be bamboozled into a panic by a much smarter guy with sinister intentions and some vague visions about Padme.

But that motivation was always stupid/laughable/asinine, because it made the main character contemptable, and since the main character is the audience's entree into the story - we see the story through his eyes - it's a problem if the guy is a moron. Nobody wants to be forced to identify with a moron, at least I don't. I resented the hell out of that, and it was a major reason I loathed the PT.

But that motivation no longer works in The Clone Wars because Anakin is no longer a dopey, stupid brat and his relationship with Padme is now being depicted as a genuine, loving, valid marriage, in which immaturity and insecurity are only minor, and not necessarily fatal, problems. Nothing worse than you'd expect to see in any marriage where one of the partners was a teenager.

So now that the character has changed, the motivation must also change, so that the story logic will be maintained. And that's what Filoni & co are busy doing.

He doesn't adhere to the rigid canon that the fans believe should be gospel.

That burning smell is from those same fans setting their Wars merchandise on fire in protest of CW.

My only real complaint regarding TCW so far is that I would've preferred their version of Mandalore had conformed with the Mandalore presented in the Karen Traviss Republic Commando novels. For the most part, I think Filoni and his team are doing a fairly good job.

I find it extremely amusing that fans think that about Filoni because he has made it quite clear as has Lucas that the two work in tandem and George pretty much has final approval over any decision that goes on. During Celebration V last year Filoni stated that Lucas was the shows "secret weapon" and that Lucas is heavily involved. So I pretty much dismiss the views that fans have against him. If Lucas approves of him then that should be good enough for you...oh yeah wait a minute...I forgot most fans hates Lucas now too. LOL

I hate you... for making what I love.

Sounds like something Captain Kirk would use to destroy an artificial intelligence. Yet they really feel it, lol.

And if you watch the special features on the first season DVDs (I haven't watched the S2 yet), they never stop referring to Lucas, it sounds like pretty much everything you see in the show either comes directly from him, or was at least approved by him. Alot of the big events and storylines definitely seem to have come directly from him.

Oh, and he does watch every episode while it's going through production, so there's no way they could be sneaking stuff past him.
