Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & books

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

you're sick.

and it looks like the tor books are slowly going into e form 3 of the jordan books are aviable. I so would've like to have seen either george r r martin or david drake write a conan novel.

Do they still do the Conan books?! I'd have thought they finished up years ago...

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

I could be wrong, but I don't think Tor is still doing new CONAN books, although I'm sure we'll keep selling the old ones, especially the ones by Robert Jordan, for as long as the contracts allow. (One of my big accomplishments several years ago was renewing our rights to the Jordan books for another chunk of years.)

I briefly chased after the novelization of RED SONJA, but that movie seems to be on hold now . . ..

If not that, is there any thought that someone might pick up from the Red Sonja series Ace books produced which David c Smith and Richard Tierney wrote? They came out around the time of the movie and were quite fun reads. I'd love for someone to take up another Sonja tale or two.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

I believe they are doing books set in "the age of conan" I have yet found a list for it. I;ll keep looking and put up here. I believe I've covered all the conan novel's todate except the age of conan. all so I'll up the red sonja novels and graphics as well.

off topic has any one here read a fantasy graphic series northlanders?

I suppose they might if the new movie's successful - unless the rights go to someone else.

I doubt that one will ever get made - though I admit the Brigitte Nielsen one is a guilty pleasure (pre-op BN is way hotter than post-op BN. She can't act, but at least reminds me of Leela from Dr Who...)

Probably. But Rose McGowan would have looked great on the book cover.

True confession: I actually made an offer for the novelization based on the movie poster alone . . . before they had even finished the script. I could see that cover selling books . . ..

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

since mr.cox brought up red sonja I did some digging and here are the novels by
David C. Smith and Richard L. Tierney and covers are by Boris Vallejo.

ace publishing 1981 - 1983

1) The Ring of Ikribu
2) Demon Gate
3) When Hell Laughs
4) Endithor's Daughter
5) Against the prince of Hell

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

It appears that Michael Stackpole is writing the novelization of the new Conan film. It comes out next week from Berkley.

The writings of Howard long ago reverted to public domain -- apart from material not published before his death, which has dribbled out over the last 70 years or so. I'd be surprised if there's even a shopping list scrawled by Howard that hasn't been published SOMEWHERE.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

the movie novelization is all ready for pre order on the nook. and if michael stackpole is writting it then it'll be good.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

I've only tried to actually read Lovecraft three times, and I found his writing style rather unappealing.

However, his imagery and the power of his imagination are absolutely undeniable. The whole Old God/Ancient Ones mythos is spellbinding, and his sci-fi and horror influence is still felt broadly.

Which hasn't left me with much excuse not to read it anymore, now has it?

I'm taking a crack at the Howard stories because hell why not. Just finished The Phoenix and the Sword, which the internet assures me is the first of his Conan tales.

While I always did find it odd that a Cimmerian (i.e. Crimean) hero had a Gaelic name I had no idea it was intentional before reading this, but him throwing around Badb and Morrigan as curses is kind of a clue.

It was a fun bit of bloody business at court, anyway.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

can't wait till august for the new conan movie. and then next year for john carter of mars.
