Congressman Weiner

Making your private life public is something that is required of American politicians by the public, even though it has nothing to do with a politician's actual work..

That's 100% true. And if you don't want to have your penis photo's scrutinized by the public and look like a dog for sending them in the first place as a married man - either:

1. Don't go into American politics - find another profession.

or

2. Don't fucking do this kind of shit in the first place.

Or the American public could mind their own business instead of poking their noses into the private lives of others.

I'm waiting for the day when a female politician, 40ish, a little mid life crisis happening, tries to explain publicly and to her husband why she felt she just had to send that crotchless panties shot of herself to the local college QB.

Somehow....I feel it just won't fly.

There's a day in gender equality I wholeheartedly hope to see one day soon.

I don't even care if it's hairy or rusty. I'd love senatorial minge.

That's unlikely to happen. Besides people like me think this type of behavior is a character flaw that makes him ineligible for office.

His penchant for lying when backed against the wall in my opinion makes him a bad person to represent us.

I've always thought the term weener was a great nickname for a penis. It sounds so juvenile, yet so raucnhy at the same time.
know what else is juvenile..? bbq Weiner.. which we'll all be enjoying for the next few days, I'm sure ;)

^Perhaps the press will cut that Weiner to shreds...Weiner is in a real hole this time...Wiener is being eaten up by the Republicans...Even the Democarts can't stomach their own Weiner...Weiner stiff is the face of being asked to pull out...

I can do this all day.

You still haven't answered my question, imagine your Weiner. Imagine you have say something like sex addiction and you can't help posting pictures of your underpants on the internet.

I agree with you for the most part but here's where you lose me. Are you suggesting that his addiction is so extreme that he has no choice in the matter of tweeting his dong?

There are alcohols you don't drink and people addicted to cigarettes who don't smoke.

He made a choice to do something risky and stupid knowing there was a a good chance he could get caught. I'm not saying he's a dumb guy. Even smart people can make stupid decisions.

Odds are he can still probably due a good job but I doubt he'll be given the chance to do so.

I'm waiting for that day too! :D

Private life affects public life. The two are inseparable. Being such a sick perv as to be doing this shit in the first place means that Weiner is not trustworthy in political matters.

Of course, it could just be him living up to his name. Once a wiener always a wiener.

You may want to skim this article. :p

What's sad is the trend. Politicians both elected and those running should be held to a higher standard, but they are human so they get involved in stuff they shouldn't.

I've noticed a lot of men make this argument. "Guilty but innocent by virtue of his XY chromosomes."

Doesn't fly with me. Unlike the animals, human animals don't stumble upon Twitter and somehow accidentally post a picture of their penis.

Well, PurpleLady did say "human," not "man." As to this sort of behavior, it does seem odd on the surface. But I also think about how politicians, celebrities, etc. all have lives that our different from the average person in certain ways. A "normal" husband and wife may find other outlets if they are having trouble in their relationship. Maybe they go to a party and flirt a little more than they should with someone, or whatever. I wonder sometimes if these public figures are on lockdown so much in terms of controlling their public image at all times that they end up venting their feelings and emotions in more unusual ways. Like tweeting pics like this. There's also the power angle. Maybe they all just feel like teenagers where the world is theirs and nothing can touch them.

Thanks I enjoyed the article. And you are so right! That's why I specifically said "human" not male. We have ALL--men, women, and those that can't choose -- made mistakes in life and we will continue to do them.

The only thing that I really dislike about Wiener is that he lied, then hurried and told the truth when he was caught. He should have had some dignity and admitted it up front.

And as to women in the news doing sexual things, there's been alot of women teachers discovered having sex with a student, so women are definitely not immune.

Not trustworthy sure, and he was all over the fricking place claiming that his Twitter account was hacked and then came out and admitted that he did it, so he can't be trusted.
If he remained in politics any future promise he made would be questioned and mocked, not to mention any political rival wouldn't have to go far to completely discredit this guy.
I remember the 88 Presidential election when Joe Biden was busted for plagerizing a speech and that effectively killed his presidential aspirations until Obama came along 20 years later and Biden rode that Obama popularity wave.

Weiner needs to quit, sign a lucrative deal with Jockey.

Look, we tell middle and high school (and college) students all the time: don't post stupid crap on Facebook or Twitter because once it goes public you cannot get it back. Any prospective employer or college will, rightly or wrongly, look at your drunk Spring Break photos, or whatever, and decide, this person does not have the kind of judgment or self-control or maturity that we are looking for.

Same goes for a politician. Nobody stole his diary or imaged his hard drive. He sent these pictures (and, really, I don't get that at all) to women who weren't his wife, then repeatedly lied about it until he was confronted with irrefutable evidence.

What this whole thing tells me about Weiner is that he is immature, lacking in self control, dishonest, and disrespectful to his wife. It may not make him someone unfit to legislate, but it certainly makes him someone whom I would not vote for. I want someone with more integrity than that.

You know, I want to feel sorry for him, but I can't. He has less self-control and poorer judgment than my ADHD 14 year old son. And then he lies about it. He brought this on himself by being stupid.

Yeah. If I were a New York voter, I'd be concerned at having a dolt representing my interests in DC, but not so much about any morality issue there might be attached to this.

A married congressman sending such pictures and having such conversations with young women displays a lack of judgment and moral fiber. However, maybe that is the sort of person New Yorkers want representing them in Congress. The part I cannot accept is the way he reacted when the story broke. Rather than coming clean from the start, Congressman Weiner lied, claiming that he had been hacked, and went on all the news shows claiming that everyone saying the picture was his was a liar. He viciously attacked anyone who questioned his lies. He directed his staff to attack the messengers and he even coached the women involved to lie to the press as well. This was a stunning display of dishonesty and chutzpah.

The congressman was not sorry for what he did. He was sorry he got caught.

That said, I hope he doesn't resign. I would love for Congressman Weiner to be the face of the Democratic Party going into the elections of next year. :)
