Scotland to leave the UK?

Let's keep the Union Jack as it is, red white and blue, and claim blue as the waves we rule in that song we wrote... We should force Scotland to accept Red and Yellow and have this as their Flag.

I'm not sure why I'm taking this seriously, but the Scottish Lion Rampant is completely inappropriate for what would likely be a Scottish Republic.
Constitutional Monarchy! The House of Stuart restored!

They're technically still around in France, if I'm not mistaken. Different name, but descendants of one of the Charles.

Well, MAYBE Scotland should be in the common wealth then, but I personally want compensation, I think everybody else in the UK, every citizen should get a tax refund of £3, 000 each from Scotland... NO WAY are they going to break up my country peacefully with out giving MUCH to England and the remaing GB. That's how I feel, how dare they, the English hating w*ankstain Salmond takes liberties y'know.

If I lived in Scotland and wasn't an independence supporter before, I would be after talking with iBender. Dude

St Andrew's cross is Scotland's flag, just like St Andrew is their Patron Saint, or are you going to take him away too?

The British crown was united, surely it can be separated again.

I really hope exiling those who disagree with you isn't a core British belief.

How racist is that though?

Scotland
We hate the U K...

England
Why?

Scotland
Because it means being with you.

England
Oh.

Scotland
We want to be more strong.

England
We are, it's called the U K.

Scotland
No, WE want to be more strong.

England
Oh.

You know who really hates Britain? All the people in TNZ. Drives me up the wall, I don't mind telling you. If only I had a fellow Britannia supporter in there... Sometimes I feel all alone.

Unfortunately the royal family dont really have much power nowadays. They're just there to bring tourists & money into the country.

True. TNZ is THE place where I, a French citizen, love hating Britain. It's even easier that no one ever contradict me there.

TNZ?

**Oh wait, I just read Shaytan's post. - Must be a forum... Sound's like hard work... Good luck with that locutus. :)

You mean like this? ;)

Personally, I prefer the Black Jack without a skull, too.
Hmm, it needs some images of starving Irish peasants, Indian civilians being shot at and some sort of reference to the surrender at Yorktown.

Oh sure, but for me it kind of comes down to liking not having anything to do with Britain and the perks of being a small neutral country more then any highfalutin notions of nationalism.
Yeah, but when we look at Britain now we see things like the NHS, the BBC and a motorway network that goes to places other than the capital, and you have to wonder if we would have had these things too if it hadn't been for independence. But it's not a case that's easy to make because there were more serious grievances affecting the country at the time and we can't look back at the independence movement as a mistake because it was easily justifiable.

If Scotland goes independent now, there's a possibility that the Scottish people in 2111 might look at England's world-class holographic broadcasting service, their extensive hover-car network and free brothels for everyone and regret going independent because they don't have those things. And when they look back at their independence movement, they're going to have a harder time justifying it.

But as you said, there are perks that come with being a small independent country too, such as not spending billions on a large military or getting your own seat at EU meetings. That's not something I would be in favour of getting rid of, even if the BBC promised to bring back Bosco in HD.

TNZ?

It's the TrekBBS's secret forum, mostly devoted to politics and controversial discussions. If you want to see it, go to your UserCP, then to Group Memberships and select "The Neutral Zone".

The Anglophobia in TNZ is fun because you get so many varieties! You've got Shaytan's "old respected rival" Frenchness, TheGodBen's tempered-kneejerk Irish viewpoint like a recovering Catholic, Deckerd's "been married for so long and now bickering" Scottishness, the run-of-the-mill American Anglophobia (like mine!) that comes from Scotch-Irish ancestry and the origins of the country, and then your ocassional batshit nutter like Tachy that just made all the stereotyps of Chavs come to life.

It's a true utopia. :bolian: Gene would be so proud.

Though we likely wouldn't have had the Celtic Tiger either, for all the decidedly mixed benefits that brings (one of them, rather worthlessly, being me - no Celtic Tiger and I'd probably still be living in Michigan.)

Bosco in HD.

Well... unionism clearly has its benefits...

And you have our asshattery to thank for it. :)

See, we British are pleased by this. We moan and scowl on the outside, but really, deep down, it gives us a pleasing sense of satisfaction knowing that we serve the greater good.

The British: nobly serving the greater good for over 300 years by nicking your stuff. (and not giving it back)
