Scotland to leave the UK?

I do wonder how these conversations would go regarding Italy if we had, say, Libyan or Ethiopian posters on the BBS.

If a vote was to be held what criteria do you use

1.>People living in Scotland (regardless of where they come from)
2.>People living in Scotland that where born there
3.>Do you include Scots living in other parts of the UK/EU/World (as it could potentially affect them)

What a strange question: If you're entitled to be included on the electoral roll to vote in General Elections, surely that's who would vote in a referendum.....same as here.

ETA: Would the other realms in the UK have to vote on this as well? Would a refenedum have to be passed by 2/3 of voters in 2/3 of electorates in Scotland alone, or in 2/3 of votes in 2/3 all electorates in the UK?

They want to be inderpendent from the UK but they still wish to keep the Queen... - Wouldn't it be great if they just made up their mind, be British or fend for yourselfs, no Queen! - Become a republic like Ireland by all means, just no Queen. - What's the point of Westminister if they're just going to make Holyrod anyway?

THe Queen Mother's family were Scottish nobility.

I respect America... - Nick Salmond wants Scotland to be like Jamaica, not of the UK but in the Commonwealth... I say he's asking for too much. Either leave the Queen or Stay British, it's really that simple to me.
You mean like Canada, Australia, New Zealand? She's our Queen too. .

Well, when I posted that, I thought it was an insult that they would still benefit from the Queen but end the UK... However, I guess they do have a strong claim to that, so yes, like Canada and Australia, but when I posted that, I meant; cut off and left to fend for themselfs for being soo anti-British.

As long as nobody touches my Iron Bru i dont really care who does what to whom when and where.

Jist keep yur sweaty mits aff ma bru....Ok.:p

If Scottish people look up at the Union Jack and see it as a sign of opression, then they have issues, because it's not.

i Bender, are you English or Scottish? That may change your perspective. Not that i think that the Union Jack is a sign of oppression. I don't want to see it removed/ our flag changed either.

No need to worry about any scots looking up as we are all too busy looking down into our Haggis and chip suppers from the local chippy......or as we call them......kitchens. :p:lol:

I'm from London so it doesn't really matter what I think anymore, not that it ever did. - But basically, I'd go nuts if I had to live in England though... London should be it's own country. :) heh heh.

Incidently take 0.1 of me serioulsy or 99.9% as whatever... Think I might go into stand up comedy, the rocks there aren't nearly as big as the ones you guys throw around here - that's for sure. :)

Luckily, both Libya and Ethiopia are oppressive dictatorships where the regime tries to crack down on internet usage, so the wise iguana is free from being called out on stuff. :techman:

Just another sign of his wisdom, choosing to be born in a nation that doesn't get called out for its shit.

No one chose to be born, I think that's the biggest ever no brainer since 'we're all gonna die'... Yet once on LBC London's Talk Radio, a presenter argued that you could!?.. I blame LSD in the water cooler for that one...

The Republic of Scotland...and Northern Ireland?

The mind boggles.
Where does it say that if Scotland leave the UK, it HAS to become a Republic? You can NOT be part of The UK, but still remain in the Commonwealth as a Constitutional Monarchy with The Queen, her heirs and Sucessors as your Head of State.

You do know the union of the crowns preceded the union of the parliaments by over a century you moronic tosser.

However you may feel about his comments, you can't resort to direct insults.

Warning for flaming.

Comments to PM.

I'd assume Scotland alone and not the UK as a whole. The rest of Canada didn't get to vote in the Quebec independence referendums, all of Sudan didn't vote in the South Sudan independence vote, as examples.
