Who have so far been your 3 favorite celebrity guest hosts of the Saturday Night Live show, ever since it's started and please separately say why, for each fave one named.

Steve Martin - What can I say about Steve Martin? He's always funny, is multi-talented, and is great at improvisation. He's pretty much a one man show, but he plays well with others and makes even the most wooden cast member seem funny and engaging.

George Carlin - George Carlin was master of the cheeky and naughty intellectual. Very intelligent and very funny, he always had a kernel of truth in every joke he made.

Betty White - We finally got to see Betty's edgier side (though she's always been willing to play), and loved it. She establishes a great rapport with the cast and the audience, and you just can't help but giggle when she enters each new skit.

Steve Martin-just plain funny

Justin Timberlake-he really seemed to mesh with the cast. Only recent episodes I've seen that made me laugh involved him

Christopher Walken-because seeing him do skit comedy is a hoot-and he obviously loves doing it, too

Justin Timberlake is awesome too, and would probaly be 4th on the list. Maybe one or two more successful hosting gigs I'll have him replace Steve Martin on my list.

I would love to see SNL focus a season where they bring back all of their biggest guest hosts before it gets 'too late'.

Anyone know if Albert Brooks has ever hosted? I don't remember if he ever did.

Yes, he did, and his stuff was brilliant. He's a very underated comic and actor. If you have not seen it, go rent the movie Broadcast News. He's very good in it. I'm just unsure if he's ever hosted or not.

Edit to add: according to Wikipedia, Albert Brooks has not hosted SNL.

Weird I remember seeing that episode (the Elvis Costello performance) , but totally forgot who the host was.
