What was wrong with "These are the Voyages"

I found the whole bit of Riker doing this soul searching about the Pegasus ludicrous since we already saw him do precisely that in the actual episode, not to mention that there was ZERO TIME for him to zip off to the holodeck and play around in a holonovel during "The Pegasus", especially since they spent the majority of the episode playing cat-and-mouse with a Romulan warbird.

"Where are you going, Number One?"

"Oh, just down to Holodeck Three, Captain, to work through some personal demons."

"Need I remind you, Commander, that we're currently on Red Alert?"

Oops.

:guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

I don't even like 'The Pegasus' as a TNG episode so I've never concerned myself with the logic of how it might connect with TATV. Just having those two in was bad enough: could have been 'Sub Rosa' for all I care...

For me, the largest laugh was, he wouldn't confide in Picard aboput Pressman's secret project (as the Admiral had ordered him not to); but in the ENT add-on version, he had zero issues casually discussing the WHOLE thing with DEanna Troi  (and yes, she's the Counselor; but in any militaristic organnization; an order regarding a TOP SECRET project means, "Discuss with no one; not even your shrink."

Bingo, on both counts.

Even the TATV defenders have pretty much unanimously admitted they should have used a different frame reference... but the haters will not be satisfied until everyone's eyes bleed at the mere thought of the episode. :rommie:

If they had to employ both Riker and Troi on the holodeck, perhaps set their part of it during Riker's captaincy of some other ship long after leaving the Enterprise E. This would at least account for their ages (and weight).

That suggestion has, believe it or not, been made before, and in this very thread. Several times, actually.

Yeah, thats one of the things I brought up, and probably others too. I had asked if it would have been marginally better if it was set during his command on the Titan.

^^ In your user CP, you can set how many posts you see per page. Default is 20. If you set it for 40, less pages.

Perhaps we can all agree the thread is too long to just zip through. :p Much wrong with TATV, there is.

I'll sum it up right here, right now.

If anybody in the future continues to ask this question, just refer them to Post #495....

What is wrong with TATV? = It exists.

What is wrong with it?? that fact it is shite is whats wrong, I totally loved the show but that episode makes my blood boil :klingon:
