Don't kid yourselves guys, Spider-Man is going to destroy probably everything outside The Dark Knight Rises unless the early word is that it's completely terrible. And even then...
Don't get me wrong. I hope Trek XII is the most popular thing since orgasms, I just don't think that's the world we're living in.

Only way STXII is gonna be the most popular thing since orgasms is if it has more sex, more splosions, and more PEW PEW PEW PEW gun fights.
... or if it finds a tasteful balance that keeps with the Trek tradition but doesn't alienate the audience. Probably the main reason why Trek IV was the only movie up until XI was the only majorly successful film. The average film goer was able to relate and connect to the story and not feel "excluded".

I guess it really depends on how the general audience feels about the series. While Spider-man 3 was generally disliked by most people, it definitely isn't as hated as Batman & Robin. So The new Spider-man will probably end up doing pretty good business, but probably less than Spider-man 3.
I'm really looking forward to it because of Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, both great actors. I think he'll be able to pull off the dopey high school Peter Parker better than Tobey Maguire.
June 2012 seems to be filling up quickly. WB just scheduled two films for June: Rock of Ages (musical starring Tom Cruise) and Jack the Giant Killer.

Were it me, and given the news that a first-draft script has only now been completed as we approach April, 2011, I'd consider making it at least a late-2012 film. Perhaps December 7, to release an actual blockbuster Star Trek movie on the anniversary of ST-TMP?
To be honest, I might even push it as far back as Summer, 2013. No reason to rush, really. One thing waiting four years from the end of Enterprise until 2009 did was make people want more Star Trek. By Enterprise, people had gotten a very bad taste in their mouths from the previous production staff's descent into a generally predictable A/B plot and deus ex machina technobabble formula. By waiting, fans started to want it again.
While waiting too long runs the risk of the general public not caring any more, it also means that the fanbase will be extremely hungry. Assuming it's a good film (and here, extra time in production always helps), the vocal fanbase may push those of the general public who may have lost some interest to care again.
Then there's the age of these actors and their characters. If one gives them another year to be a little older and make the film occurring in "real time" (i.e. four years since their last movie), it will probably help believability.
Bottom line is that it needs to be a good film. Paramount has proved it can do decent Star Trek, but it shouldn't be rushed into.

I wouldn't bet on Spider-Man "destroying everything" because this isn't 2002.

Paramount moved Madagascar 3 to June 8th, and Universal slated Ted (comedy from Seth MacFarlane starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis) for July 13.

Relativity moved "Snow White" up from June 29th, to get the jump on Universal's Snow White film, so Trek is the only big opening on its weekend at the moment.

Star Trek might be delayed by 6 months if not more. Other than that I'll definitely see Battleship
no i don't think its a bad choice, star trek is sci fi, hobbit is a fantasy, as to men of steel, have no clue what that is, If i Sci fi geek am ignorant of that movie you can only imagine how many others are out there,
Hobbit and Star Trek Will do fine, and I predict 320-325 million box office earner for Star Trek, My last prediction of 250-258 million dollar earner for Star Trek was spot on, Avatar too, I predicted it'll make minimum of 580 million and might earn as much as 700 million, it blew both predictions by earning over 700 million at US box office alone.
Hobbit might make 425 million at US box office alone, but we need to wait and see.
Star Trek might not do well internationally, I am hoping it might pull 150 million worldwide, we'll just need to wait and see,
