Being Human Series 3

I'm not so sure about that. She was still breathing when we last saw her and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Herrick recruited her.

Oh, btw it's been announced that Becoming Human will air as a 50 minute episode after this series has finished.

Have only recently discovered the show, so I don't know what "version" of creating vampires this series uses. But is it likely that our lady copper is now gonna vamp out?

If so, she might still play a pivotal role in what happens next; maybe even fill the role of resident vampire in the next series when the actor playing Mitchell goes down under.

I'm pretty sure that the other vamps aren't going to let Mitchell's arrest ruin their big secret. They'll do whatever is necessary to cover heir collective ass. Which means that a certain police station in Cardiff is probably gonna cease to exist real soon. A real disaster scenario that leaves no survivors, destroys any records of Mitchell's arrest, and which will leave Mitchell's fate a mystery, so that they can get away with eliminating the character so that the actor can honor his "Hobbit" obligations, yet leave the door open for the actors possible future return.

Sound at all plausible?

Pretty sure Herrick has to feed her his blood to turn her.

Anyway, personally I think this series has been fantastic, and shits all over the American remake from a great height.

Finally got a chance to check out series one and two, and now know how vamps are made in this particular 'verse. And I agree with Reverend about Herrick maybe recruiting her. Now that I have more background on him, he seems to be a junkie for twisted and ironic acts. Turning Nancy seems like something that wouldn't be at all contrary to his character.

And what with the way series 3 just ended
Now that Mitchell been staked, we're gonna need a new vamp in the group, just to round things out. And Nancy would be a good candidate for the part. She did, after all, have pretty good chemistry with the rest of the cast.

So let's assume for the moment that Nancy awakes in the morgue, notices that she can't see her own reflection in any of the polished metal surfaces that are so common in morgues, and comes to the inescapable conclusion that she's now a vampire. Who can she possibly turn to for guidance? I think she'd go looking for Mitchell, (whom she doesn't yet know is croaked). Of course, the very first step in searching for Mitchell would take her to George, Nina, and Annie. Being legally dead, she'd need a place to stay and lie low while deciding how to re-enter society without causing too big a disruption.
a new vampire character is maybe kinda needed.

You're assuming that Mitchell is permanently gone. That's only the case if we believe what Herrick said about staking being permanent. He could have been lying (another one of his headgames to test Mitchell), or the Old Ones may know tricks that even he hasn't found out (season 4 cliffhanger - they've brought Mitchell back and he's been their offscreen slave all season!).

Well series 4 was announced today.

Toby Whithouse, Creator and Executive Producer, says: "We were overwhelmed by the response to series three, and so we're absolutely thrilled that the BBC have given us this opportunity to continue our show into a fourth year.

"We've got another intense and epic story lined up for you, with some new faces and old, and even more horror and mayhem and mugs of tea. I can't wait to get started."

Problem is
Aidan Turner is likely to be way too expensive off the back of the Hobbit films - and he would have to have a terrible agent if they can't turn that into something bigger than a BBC3 series.

Also
Whithouse explained that he had not planned to kill Mitchell off despite Turner's casting in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit .

"Perhaps, we thought, Wyndham could dispatch him back to Bolivia and maybe (though we had to concede it was pretty unlikely given what Aidan's schedule would be for the next three years) we could get Mitchell back for an episode of series seven...?" he wrote. "But y'see, that Turner fella is smart. He knew that ending, while leaving the door open for him to return one day, would be ultimately unsatisfying. And so it was his decision - and with his encouragement - that we ended Mitchell's story there."

I'd be really surprised if Aidan were to return, though I'm sure they'd find a way to handle it storywise should he ever want to. But with the Hobbit obligation, that return won't be anytime soon.

And, so, we are left with needing a new vamp who isn't on the side of Wyndham and the vampiric new world order, but on the side of humanity. Someone who is a vampire, to round out the group, but who resents the arrogant aspects of vampirism, and unlike Wyndham and co, still identifies as human, and wishes to hold onto their humanity; to "being human" and all that entails.

That, to me, says someone who's very recently been turned, and Nancy certainly could fit the bill.

There's another reason Nancy would be a great addition to the core cast: She is, or was, a cop, and has cop skills that'd really come in handy in the fight against Wyndham and company.

I think Mitchell is going to return in Series 4 but I think it would be more interesting that he doesn't come back as the vampire he was but as a human being somehow. He's overjoyed by this because now he's free of the hunger and the murderous impulses that come with being a vampire. But Mitchell also has to face the downside of being a vampire, which is not posessing special abilities like enhanced strength and having the advantage towards fighting off supernatural creatures. Mitchell would have to deal with being the non-supernatural outsider of the group.

BBCAmerica is still airing series 3 and I'm really enjoying it. I'd hate to see Mitchell gone; he's big part of why the series works, for me anyway.

I have tried to watch the Syfy version, but to me, it's so plastic and obviously written by committee, that it's rather off-putting. The original has this feel of grit and grime, of run-down flats, etc; it just makes it more appealing.

Sorry if this sounds dismissive of American drama on the whole but that basically sounds like you're saying "The British version is British and the American version is American." Because that's a complaint I have about a lot of American shows.

I think Mitchell is going to return in Series 4 but...
Well, no he's not. The actor has a prior commitment in a huge movie (The two-part film of "The Hobbit"), and simply won't be available. Period. Apparently, his commitment puts him out of commission for well over a year, so the soonest Mitchell could realistically return is near the end of Series 5, assuming the show runs that long.

Which is why we're gonna need a new vamp, at least temporarily, to complete the show's overall premise of a vampire, (a) werewolf(s), and a ghost who share a house together.

Maybe Adam the vampire could return. I liked him and how George and Nina were like surrogate parent figures to him.

I had that thought myself, with Becoming Human airing this Sunday I started to wonder if it was all about seeing if he's popular as a replacement.

I just finished season, I mean series 3 and am resurrecting this thread.

Sucks to hear that Mitchell will be gone for the time being, if not permanently. Nancy would be a good fit, but I think the hunger would be too much for her to handle. Mitchell at least had a few decades to attempt to reform and be clean, but looked how that turned out. He still gave in. Nancy won't have the guidance she needs from 2 werewolves, maybe 3 now because of Tom and a ghost, alone. But I guess that is one part of her character that could be fleshed out.

I'm still wondering about a loose thread back in the second or third episode. Who were the people testing on Sasha the zombie? And how come they never really followed up on it? Does it have something to do with the new world order and preserving humans so vampires won't run out of food?

All in all I'm loving both versions of this show! Can't wait to see how they both play out.

I absolutely loved the sequence when Herrick suddenly started being Herrick again, with Shirley Bassey singing History Repeating. The whole set piece was done perfectly.

The music in S3 was very good overall.

I can't help thinking that Aidan being gone will severely dent the ratings unless they come up with someone equally compelling. He sounds like he'd like to come back, but that also depends on how they run the ship without him. On the other hand, much as I love him, I'm getting a luvvy vibe from the tone of the things he's been saying. I hope he's not going all precious because he's a dwarf in two movies.

such a shame the music is nearly always changed on the dvds.
