If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go with ?

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

I thought about a concept a while back called 100 days, with each episode being 1 day the story chronicling the final 100 days of humanity's existence. I tried to come up with several ideas what could end makind and I settled on some VERY BAD TV SCIENCE ;) and used...

The idea of a new Collider machine that went wrong and created micro black holes that evaporate quickly BUT one was formed deep in the Earth's Core giving it a HUGE power supply to feed off and in the micro second before it would normally evaporate it didn't and is growing at a slow but deadly pace.

I then went on to think the pull of a micro black hole would effect the turn on the core causing the slow failure of our magnetic shield in 100 days though eventually long after were toast the Earth would eventualy be swallowed.

I even came up with a FRINGE esq idea of the black hole being a tear in the frabic of reality and threaten multiple Earths in different universes and despite our own planet being doomed were forced to try and stop the same happening else where. A full season would of been set on a different Earth trying to stop them turning on their own machine dooming their world and causing a chain reaction that would doom another Earth like a domino effect.

I have too much to time on my hands ;)

I'd love to do a show adapted from the concept of GIJoe. It would be set in current times, and follow a special task force operating under the US JSOC with support from the CIA, NSA, and FBI, tasked with taking down a foreign/domestic terrior group. The terrior group would be run, and created by, a brilliant but deranged multi-billionair business owner in the US. He funds his terrior operations from his legit multinational corporation based on a structure like GE or Samsung, hand in everything. He has a private military, owns several small countries, hires numerous mercs, cuts deals with arms dealers, organized crime syndicates, and drug cartels to further his goals.

sounds like GI Joe: Renegades

Over the Edge/World's Edge/Off the Map

Star Trek type show set on the fictional high seas of 1500's Earth.
First contact with alien (peoples) on islands and even new, undiscovered continents, what brave new world will they encounter? Will they find the land of the lost dinosaurs? and of course, who will they meet along the way? (Tune in & find out.)

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

Why would people in the 1500's expect to meet dinosaurs? Dragons and sea monsters, maybe.

How about if they really do meet dragons and sea monsters? That would be a nice surprise. :rommie:

Good point, make that Dragons and Sea Monsters instead.

I personally want a cast of the crew being mixed in race and genders, working side by side in the 1500s/1600s, and being the underdogs for it, but prevail none the less and a cast of all white 'or whatever' royalty/nobility based on land who are of interest. They can have a vested interest in the crew, they can be amazed by new things, offended and wrong, but only to be enlightened by the crew and shown the error of their ways.

Also, it's set on the Fictional high seas, so sure, why not, let them find the dragons. (Or something else that's interesting.)

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

There are two concepts i feel would make a great show (though quite pricey if wanted to be done right).

1st would be an adaption of a roleplaying game called Shadowrun. It's set in the 2050s in a cyberpunk setting.. huge megacorporations (far bigger than any corporation today) battle it out in the boardrooms and when these negotiations fail or they want something done silently they turn to so called Shadowrunners.. people with special talents who operate off the grid and perform any job from espionage to kidnapping to assassination for the right price. The twist though is that in 2012 magic has returned to the world and with it many major fantasy races when spontaneously people started to turn into elves, dwarves, Orcs etc. Imagine a dwarf mechanic tuning your bike and on the other side an Orc Shaman slinging fireballs at some pursuing cop cars.

Another show i'd like to see is a Band of Brothers style miniseries that shows the happenings from the German side.. we got a small glimpse at the end of the BoB series when the german officers held a speech to his men echoing the experiences of the American soldiers word for word showing that sometimes the difference is just the uniform. I'd like to show the world how it was possible that a nation considered civilized and home to many great thinkers and philosophers could fall so low and how or why the common soldier could fight for such a vile regime.

That describes the pirates of the time period (well somewhat later really) who were oddly egalitarian in their social structure for the times. I'd do a series that includes the famous female pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read.

Somebody clicking on this banner, or a banner like this, and then winning and beginning their new life in America.

I'll call it... Green Card

(Thank you Trekbbs/Google for the inspiration.)

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

Ugh, is that an actual banner? :rommie:

I seem to recall the Green Card reality show idea kicking around. Not sure if it was just here or something that might have been in actual development.

This. ala Poul Anderson's Mauri mythology.

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

I'd have a show about a rich playboy who has a thirst for justice. He then dons a mask and fights crime in the dark alleys of his mob-infested city. I'd call it The Night Darkness.

Failing that...

TrekBBS: The Series

Failing that...

Leach on to the success of Talking Toilet.

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

A Horror Story Idea.

A country elects a group of lieing Satanists who change the country, tales of gross orgies dancing rituals and necrophilia on hallowed grounds everywhere the elite hang out are included! They start to change everything, from national religion (Which is now Evil), flags get altered and anthems changed and eventually the name of the capital city gets changed, to Hell. The Santanist Goverment remain on good terms with other world superpowers because, the only way they could prevent any unwanted interference from the outside world is to trade. So they sell the country out, sell low, who cares, they're evil, and nobody's going to dare harm such a profitable allience. At the end, I figure, The Capital is in ruins, the skies are grey, and the leader looks out the window one last time, to see a broken capital.

The End

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

I wouldn't mind creating a science fiction TV series set around a freighter captain and his co-pilot who are also unofficial undercover operatives for an interstellar political power, kind of like Cervantes Quinn and Bridy Mac from the Star Trek: Vanguard novel series. The episodes would start off standalone but the overall arc gradually reveals itself and the series becomes more serialized.

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

I wouldn't mind writing a series of six screenplays/scripts about Death/Ghosts and eventually, Reencarnacion.
It'll be a drama, and the peril is, trying to go to Heaven/Nirvana.
I'll call it;

The Circle of Life

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

MadBaggins: The Movie

(someone had to say it...)

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

Top Gear the Movie, just like Jackass the Movie (2002).

Re: If you had to create your own TV show, what concept would you go wi

A musical TV show about a Beach Volleyball team made up of lesbian vampires who solve mysteries and fight crime.

I don't have a catchy name for it yet but have the tag line: They have the balls to take a bite out of crime! :p

Seriously, I'd like to put together a show in Australia that isn't a cop show...apart from soap operas the only thing that they produce locally here are cop shows. It would be a comedy show and I'd like to work with Shaun Micallef as a writer (and maybe an actor as well if he wants) because I really like that comedy stuff he does.

You'd get two million viewers a night for just saying lesbians in the advertising

And everyone has lots of fun arguing which party it's a metaphor for. :rommie:

But seriously, a show about Satanists would be cool on premium cable (where the religious types can't touch it). I could definitely see Starz jumping on the idea. They love anything sleazy that gets them attention.
