Finally Something New!

Ah, I've got you. :)

There were rumors early on, that Enterprise was actually going to have "vectoring" nacelles... that was making me nervous, and I'm glad they didn't go that way, in the end. :)

Vectoring? Do you mean something like vectored thrust?

Yeah. :) The rumors were that the warp nacelles would actually move back and forth, or up and down.

At one point, I think I read that they'd be capable of moving apart and getting closer together, as well.

I'm glad that idea never went anywhere... I think it would have been a disaster. :)

Looks fantastic Madman! I was about to make it my wallpaper, then I thought I'd head over to your site and see if you had anything new. You did. :adore:

My current wallpaper is now "Still Boldly Going". Excellent work.

Yeah, I agree with you. We already have an established expectation of how warp engines are supposed to work and look during the TOS era and back.

Perhaps if they were to try to apply that idea to a truely unique class, similar to the Prometheus, it might be more acceptable, though there would still need to be an adequate reason for why we would want the warp engines to vector, because it has become fairly well established that warp drive works nothing like conventional forms of propulsion. It doesn't produce thrust. Its more like it pulls the ship forward and while pushing it's departure point away. If anything, if the warp nacelles were to move while at warp, I would think that might make the warp field unstable or something. Though what do I know?:p

Thanks. :) Yeah, that is one of my favorites, as well. :)

I should have a whole bunch of new stuff this summer, related to the big project I'm been secretly working on, too. :) I'll be sure to come in here and mention it, when it's all up there.

Exactly. :) It's not like they're rockets, or anything. :)

Anyone try to mate the upper section of the JJprise with the lower section of the refit? The lower sensor dome on the JJ is too...fort like--if I can use that description.
