If the reports that he was killed in a mansion outside Islamabad are correct, General Mattis would probably be the officer in command (if it was a military strike at all).

War is over, right? Thisa is great news, I'm serously proud to be American. I hope we can pull out now. Though this will not stop Terrorism, it is a great morale victory.

This probably ends Al Qaeda as a serious threat--but we have to remember that there are many other terror organizations and independent operators. Anwar Al-Awlaki, for instance, would be an example of another powerful figure who in recent years had eclipsed bin Laden in terms of influence. So I do not think the threat of radical Islamists is over, at all.

Actually, I think the credit for this ought to go to General Petraeus, not to either president. I'm not sure this is something that the White House can have a lot of say in one way or the other. (I KNEW I made the right move, back in '08, to name a starship in my fanfic after the guy! )

I'm watching NBC and saw the hilarity of the situation, as well. Trump has been trumped TWICE this week by President Obama. I love it!

US has the body and has verified with DNA testing. NBC says several sources have confirmed to them. At this rate, there won't be much left for the president to tell us.

The news has just said that authorities around the world are being urged to take security precautions in light of the news of Osama's death. They are afraid that news of his death will lead to violence or terrorist acts against U.S. personnel overseas.

During the 2008 Presidential Debates, Candidate Obama said we should concentrate our efforts in Pakistan and Afghanistan rather than Iraq. He was right and deserves credit for Osama Bin Laden's capture/death. It was most likely a JSOC or SEALS operation that got him.
